1995 Country LWB, EAS ECU Faults are nonsense

Thank you for your responses. When it comes limping up my driveway I will check the ECU connector (both sides) for corrosion. When I cleaned out the coolant I did have the ECU out and found it did not get wet. Cleaned the connector, seals and installed. Taking a second look cant hurt.

1995 Country LWB, EAS ECU Faults are nonsense

I can move the vehicle up and down with the software and with the buttons on the dash. The vehicle also changes height with speed variations and when exiting the vehicle (after the ECU is reset). The first time it most recently came back the fuse in dash was blown. The two under the RH seat were...

1995 Country LWB, EAS ECU Faults are nonsense

Forgot to address the possibility of corrosion in the diagnostic connector. A couple of summers back when I replaced the heater core and cleaned up the cockpit and floormats to get rid of the coolant, I cleaned the diagnostic connectors under both front seats, put them in small plastic bags and...

1995 Country LWB, EAS ECU Faults are nonsense

I am using the RSW Solutions software, the cable I built with the transistor buffer, and a 15 year old Toshiba laptop. I don't think it is a com problem. Once reset I can move the vehicle to all the positions. I don't think it is a leaky bag because about 1 1/2 years ago there was an unlevel...

1995 Country LWB, EAS ECU Faults are nonsense

My neighbors Rover had a hard fault on the air suspension that put it on the bump stops. Looking at the 1 1/2 pages of faults on the ECU I found the faults to conflict from line to line. Example: FL Valve stuck open then a few lines down, FL valve stuck open. In all, all valves stuck open and...

1995 Classic 4.2 LWB Expiration Date?

I just purchased, via the internet, a new ABS pump. It was in the original box and is sealed in heavy foil suitable for a military field replaceable part. Attached to the foil is a label saying it must be installed by week 42 of 2007. I have never seen an expiration date on auto parts. Did...

    OBD Display Location

Thanks guys. I Found the display under the passenger seat, door side. Since the procedures and fault codes are not in Rave, I found them at: Land Rover Troubleshooting: retrieving fault codes Thanks again, Larry

    OBD Display Location

Is there an OBD display on the 1995 Classic LWB, 4.2, American Export version? It is not addressed in Rave but, does appear in the parts list for this VIN number on the CD from Classic North American 1987 to 1995.

Engine stalls on halting; 1995 4.2 Country Classic

Engine stalls when halting W/WO A/C on. Stalled about 3 times then check engine light came on. Operating temp is normal. Engine runs smoothly and has normal power between stop signs.

Trailer Symbol Lighted with Head lights on, 1995 RR Classic

The trailer symbol is nice and bright and the Check Engine light is now on steady, headlamps on or off. The engine is running just fine and temp normal. This is getting spooky!

Trailer Symbol Lighted with Head lights on, 1995 RR Classic

When the headlights are turned on a green trailer symbol has appeared on steady. There is no trailer in tow or the umbilical attached. Whats up with that?

1995 Classic Country LWB 4.2; noisey steering slip ring

Just when I thought all was well! The steering slip ring (cable wrap) is making a rubbing sound with a slight clicking when turning. I checked the seating with the steering column cowel and key nubs to the steering wheel. All seem well seated. The horn and cruise control work ok so the...

ABS light on steady, 1995 Classic 4.2

Yeah Team! The problem is solved. I used a large pin punch as a drift and tapped around the shoulder of the sensor using a small hammer. Got a solid ringing sound but I felt no movement. I put the wheel back on and on test drive the light went off after a very short distance. In the Air...

ABS light on steady, 1995 Classic 4.2

Thank you for your responses. I read the blink codes (4) and cleared them all. They all point to the sensor air gap, right front, being excessive. The recommendation is to try tapping it into place. I looked in Rave. It shows a picture of the location of the sensor and the procedure for...

ABS light on steady, 1995 Classic 4.2

OK. I am getting a picture. Sounds like I need to put in a "paper clip" jumper then count the blinks of the abs light (hopefully not Morse Code). Then somewhere I can find the fault based on the number of blinks. I cautiously ask; where do I insert the jumper? Bad day today. The rotary...

ABS light on steady, 1995 Classic 4.2

Blink code? Sounds like I need to invest in some kind of diagnostic tool. Kind of expensive investment to help a neighbor. But, life is difficult, not fair. Thank you for the reply.

ABS light on steady, 1995 Classic 4.2

After gutting the the dash, center console and steering column to replace the heater core, got it all back together. Now working out the punch list. Before all the R&R the ABS light and TC light used to alternately come on and off as breaking and speed varied. Now the TC light goes on and off...

Bonnet half closed and will not open

I was being to gentle. I had my spouse hold the safety latch then jerked the bonnet upwards. It came open. I had to straighten out the plate with the hole in it. I then covered the plate with white medical tape and applied stamp pad ink to the end of the plunger, lowered the bonnet until the...

Bonnet half closed and will not open

Just put the bonnet back on with attention to the marks made before removal. This is a 1995 RR Classic, Export edition, LWB. Tried to close the bonnet and it stuck, half latched. Tried pulling the latch release but it seems not to be latched. The manual release does nothing even with a...
