    Most milage on yer gaylander

Ours is V-Reg and has only 23k miles on the clock. Can't verify that mileage as we only bought it 5 months ago, but has stamps in the service book upto 21k with a cam-belt change at 18k.

    When Freelanders turn bad !

Ok ..... Mirror done :) Much easier than I though as it only took me 10-mins to do at 11 o'clock last night in the dark & rain :) "Hopefully" it will now get through the MOT tomorrow. Next, the rear window ..... that's going to be more of a challenge I think! Thanks again for the help :)

Thanks - Any ideas on the tailgate? Seems very cramped in the door assembly and for the life of me I coulnd't see where the cable originally ran.

    When Freelanders turn bad !

Hi Guys My wife had a really, really bad day with the Freelander on Monday this week. First, the tailgate window decided to go down by itself and refused to raise again - Just beeped when the button pressed. Then a kindly yellow bus decided to "remove" the drivers side wing mirror. Finally...

    Maintenance of plastic trim.

I recently discovered that the previous owner spray-painted all the plastinc bumpers but negelcted to use primer ..... it's now started peeling off the rear plastic trim and look awful. Does anyone know the best way to remove the paint from plastic trim so that I can get it re-painted...

    Power loss?

Hi Guys My wife's just returned from a 3-day trip into deepest, darkest Devon. She complained that the car seemed to loose all power when trying to go up hills and flooring it at 70mph in 5th gear only resulted in it going slower and slower. I've borrowed the car today to drive my 25-miles...

    SRS Airbag Light

Quick question - Should the airbag light on the dash come on briefly when the keys are in the ignition and turned? All other lights come on but the airbag light stays off and not having the original user manual I don;t know whether this is correct!? On my Audi, the SRS light comes on briefly...

    What's my problem?

How long have you owned your Freelander? We bought ours a few weeks back and I've had similar questions, so the following may help if you've recently aquired yours : http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/new-owner-question-31541.html

    Fuel consumption

Our Jeep Cherokee had switchable 2WD/4WD and Part-Time 4WD - 2w/4w was switchable any any sensible road speed. Needless to say the car was only ever run using 2 x wheels. Good point ref the insurance company - The problem would be how to go about asking them, as most people in these...

    New owner question

It's possible that I'm being fobbed off, however, I've always been over critical of every car I've owned and always seem to find niggly faulty. My wife certainly doesn't see any issues with the car and doesn't think there's anything wrong. I'll monitor it over the next couple of weeks - I...

    Fuel consumption

Thanks for the advice! So the only component that is removed is the VCU itself? We're still getting used to the car, so I'll keep it 4x4 for now, but may well do this if the rear clunk gets any worse etc. :)

    Fuel consumption

Interesting! :) No plans to off-road the car ... Unless my wife get's lost in a field at a Steam Fair of course :p What's involved in removing the rear-prop, and is this likely to cause any damage to the rear diff over an extended period? Thanks

    New owner question

Hi Guys Just called the garage to get an update .... "Can't find anything wrong with the car Sir" They checked the VCU and said it was fine - The mechanic explained that in order for the rear wheel's to turn, BOTH rear wheels must be raised. This sort of makes sense really, as my...

    Fuel consumption

Thanks Smythe We only have a basic model, so no AC fitted. I drive a 2.4ltr V6 Audi A6 with an auto box and easily get 33mpg combined (28 around town) - The Freelander feels like a much lighter car so I was surprised it was so thirsty.

    Fuel consumption

Thanks for the reply Mark :) ... I guess the high consumption is normal and nothing to worry about then :( .
