Hi Guys

My wife had a really, really bad day with the Freelander on Monday this week.

First, the tailgate window decided to go down by itself and refused to raise again - Just beeped when the button pressed.
Then a kindly yellow bus decided to "remove" the drivers side wing mirror.
Finally, we discovered that the MOT expired in Sept  - My wife booked it in on Saturday, but the garage has said that there's probably no point as it will fail due to a missins mirror - Bugger !

Ref the tailgate window, I've removed the internal moulding and found that the wire cable had snapped and wrapped itself around various things - I've removed this, a large spring and a piece of tubing and managed to manually "pull" the glass up so that the tailgate can be opened and closed.
I believe the motor is still good as before I stripped the door down I could hear it operating.
Does anyone know how difficult it will be to get this repaired - I expect the Landy dealer will wnat a fortune to do it !?

I've ordered a new mirroe from Ebay for £70 inc delivery which is a reasonable price I think - Does anyone have a huide on replacing mirrors on Freelanders (It's a 1999 model on a V-Plate) ?

Many thanks

Remove interior window corner trim to access screws for wing mirror very carefully! The push clip on ours snapped as I pulled it off and might be worth a spray of WD40 first to loosen (now held in place by blue tack which has held in the 2 further occasion wife has broken mirror!). The screws to remove mirror are star heads. Shouldn't be a problem from then on.

Thanks - Any ideas on the tailgate?
Seems very cramped in the door assembly and for the life of me I coulnd't see where the cable originally ran.

Sorry that's one of the few things that hasn't broke yet (nervous writing this now!). I'm sure it has been posted up many times though so worth a good search around.

Hi Simon yep the wing mirror is an easy fix,and as per last fread thorry thread, the tail gate is also easy peasey, disconnect ya battery [make sure ya got yer radio code] snort, , ,get some auto cable from halfords and some crimps and cable tye's and sort out mess wire for wire using in line crimps where needed ,make sure window mechanism Doe's not foul the cable-ing when happy, reconnect the battery, make sure all windows are up including the rear one [if not drive it up ] make sure all doors are shut ,from outside the gaylander hit the fob lock ,wait 10 seconds ,and unlock [do this three times]if no horn beeps in between [all is good] next drive the rear window down wait 10 seconds then up 10sec [do this thrice] job sorted. . . . .:)

Ok ..... Mirror done :)
Much easier than I though as it only took me 10-mins to do at 11 o'clock last night in the dark & rain :)
"Hopefully" it will now get through the MOT tomorrow.

Next, the rear window ..... that's going to be more of a challenge I think!
Thanks again for the help :)
