No...just a standard, L/R single CD player - but as above, it had a hands free kit in it when I got it, but I removed most of it when I changed stereos......thing is, I'm sure I unplugged it completely from the stereo loom - maybe I need to have another look!

Really? You might have something, I removed the majority of an existing hands free kit when I replaced the grotty after market stereo when I first got the car.....why would it make that kind of noise do you think? If it is that though, at least it's nothing serious!

Right, it only happens a few seconds after I've started the engine BUT only when the stereo is on. If the radio's switched off, then no noise - ever. The noise is one loud beep, then stereo goes silent (but doesn't switch off or anything), then after another second or 2, there's a loud...

Right....a friend of mine has SORN'd his 300tdi and let me borrow his headlights. They fit fine, although seem to sit back a little more than the proper ones. At least it gets me back on the road (still minus 1 x indicator though). Still can't believe some f*ck3r would actually steal...

I think the actual adjusters are still on the car (can't check as I'm at work ATM)....do u know if the new headlights would come with the bits that attach already on them? By the way, I've seen island 4x4 are doing the lights for 39.99 each inc vat.

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but some scroat has stolen the headlights off my early TD5....tried looking on ebay, but only seem to be Disco 1 headlights on there at the moment (rather not buy new ones)....anyone know if 300tdi headlights would fit straight in/not look weird, etc? I don't...

I was under my 1999 TD5 Discovery earlier having a look at various stuff, and saw this (pics taken). Is there supposed to be a plug in there, and what is the the hole for? Please can anyone help/worry me/put my mind at ease? :) Cheers

OK, here's a cpl of pics I've taken today. I'm sure most of the bar would clean up with some elbow grease & the right product. The hole in the front is covered fully by a normal sized number plate. Let me know :)

Not sure if it'll help you (esp with your location), but I've got a genuine Land Rover A bar, number STC50021 that I've removed from my TD5 that I recently bought. It's got a few marks, etc on it, and I had to cut the front to expose the mounting bolt (behind number plate area though, so can't...

Certainly sounds like the most probable cause. It doesn't seem a difficult job (nor that expensive). I think the air bags have a life expectancy of approx 5 years or so (or at least recommended to change every 5 yrs or so). hth

Right, just been out & about and taken some proper notice of whats going on. The noise is definately only there when on the move, and it doesn't actually happen when going on the accelerator, only when coming off it. It seems to happen at speeds upto approx 50mph (not 30 as previously stated)...

best I stick it in 'sport' and just give some beans then! ;) No, it only happens when I'm moving - not when standing still

thanks for the reply, but the symptoms dont relate to wheels out of balance, in my previous experience. There's no vibration, etc, just the moan/groan noise as above, and only for a second as the accelerator is pressed or released gently.

Hi chaps, I've got a 'noise' coming through the front of my 1999 TD5 auto. I've searched on here thoroughly (I think) for anything that looks familiar, but no joy. The noise is like a groan more than anything, but it's only there when I take my foot off the accelerator pedal up to approx...
