Check fuses under steering wheel. Make sure no previous owner has added an in line fuse any where. (under bonnet etc). Also check all earths are clean and tight.

Check connections to starter motor and like redhand said check all earths (to body etc). smell might not be connected but for now just check main things like oils. (gearbox etc)

Changed my sediment bowl today. Was a bit of gunk and water in it but didnt really make a difference. Next i took pipe off from top of intercooler to inlet manifold. There was loads of black gunk. I cleaned it out best i could and tried it with pipe still off. At first it was like it was back...

I took the pipe off the turbo and there is a bit of oil in the pipe but not much. Not looked at the intercooloer side yet. Could the exhaust manifold blowing quite bad have anything to do with it? not sure about timing, air filter is ok and not checked tappets. iv tried cracking the injectors on tick over and the engine note changes on each one. Shall i try cracking them off at higher revs? (will this make a difference?)

Same as the other guys said. Try turning the engine 1/4 of a turn and feel for resistance. Top up the new filter when you change it again. the manual hand pump is a good idea to leave there incase ever needed again.

Iv changed fuel filter and i have found the water trap at the back but i couldnt get it off, couldnt turn the drain plug either. Does it spin off like a filter? Not checked intercooler pipes but have tried running it with main turbo feed pipe off. Still same.

Cheers for advice then. Going to take wiper motors off tommorow and have a look. Any ideas what kind of a job it is. Cheers.

It just blow the fuse straight away as soon as you switch them on. Thought it could be a sticking motor but now not sure because it bows as soon as you touch the switch.
