Changed all rubber pipes today. Elbow from turbo to bottom intercooler pipe was really soft and on onside had bubbled up. Cleaned intercooler and did full servive (again). Also today i cleaned inlet manifold and fitted back on with new gasket and exhaust studs. Seems fine now revs up fine with no smoke. Next job is to blank off egr. Anyone know if this is worth doing. Also exhaust is blowing quite bad on flexi. Will this make performance poor because it still seems a bit sluggish. Cheers.

have a quick look at my new post it may help if you need to look further for your power problems lets see what comes up

A blowing exhaust will never help performance and will be an mot fail. Why not change it for a Defender non-cat downpipe from the likes of Paddocks for about £20+vat.

If your car has a cat, de-catting it will improve the performance.

De-EGR - this is also a very popular mod, will cost between £5 and £20 depending on how you do it. Do a search for De-EGR and have a read.

Fitted new full exhaust system today. Seems better again. Going to do EGR tomorrow hopefully. Dont suppose anyone knows what the switch/sensor is for in top of the block. It is a twin pin plug and is between the rocker cover and inlet manifold screwed into the head. The wires are disconnected at the min and im trying to find out what it is for. Cheers.

It's a coolant sensor, gives info to the ECU for cold starting and general running. Should be connected.

Cheers for that. Will get it connected back up then. The plug is off the wires at the min butim sure i can find a plug somewhere and get it connected again. Cheers.
