Ok, taking your advice and putting the engine/gearbox/transfer box in the correct position. Am looking at sourcing a transfer box so this can be done asap. Front props need changed to disco ones. Anything else?

I've been on to our local Landrover suppliers, BLRC, I'm being told that there is no difference in the transfer box size (19j + lt77 box) and that the autobox will mate to it. Can you please explain why the 300tdi plus auto box will sit further back than standard? Sorry to be a pain - use words...

Surely I don't have a choice on where the engine is fitted, auto box is attached to it, box marries up to transfer box then mounts welded in where the engine will sit? If that's a stupid way of putting it, then I'm sorry, I'm having brainfog!! Just finished a 14 hr day, same til Friday...

Is the Autobox not the same length as the LT77?

The donor didn't come with a transfer box so I'm kinda stuck that way. It's an EDC engine but I'm getting a manual pump. No electrical gubbins going in. Will measure up this week. Getting engine mount made from drawings to allow for oil filter.

My plan is to attach the gearbox and engine as one unit to existing transfer box. Anyone done this before or any links to threads on this would be greatly appreciated as I am drawing a blank! Cheers Keith

Hi all, I am on the verge of picking up a 96 300tdi auto to put in my Defender, unfortunately it's EDC. Any particular model of mechanical pump needed (model numbers /image etc) as I'm confused by Err4046 Err6727. Any help appreciated.

Got the CAD drawings to make up a new offside engine mount for the 300. Will get it fabricated nearer the time. Anyone know of a cheap Disco auto in Northern Ireland???!!!
