Ok, having decided the reason my P38 diesel won't start is because the diesel pump is not matched to the ecu, I am gonna fire up my T2 Testbook ! This is gonna get interesting....got the whole kit and kaboodle but never used it yet!!!!

fuel pump off the original engine seems fine, it's just I thought they were a bitch to swap?

I'm between Kings Lynn and Spalding

the pump came fitted to the engine so did work, I swapped all the engine wiring from the range rover though.

hi guys....right more info....ecu still on the car, as everything else apart from the pump. The original enine had sucked in water before I bought it so had to be replaced. I do have a T2 diagnostic system (complete with trolly and printer) with a shed load of boxes full of conections and shoe...

Replaced my P38 BMW diesel engine with one from a BMW car eventually..went ok, with a hell of a lot of swapping bits over......now it turns over but won't start! Any ideas?:(

having a tuff time trying to separate the BMW engine from the auto box on my 98 p38. Only thing I am worried about is if I have allthe bolts out of the torque converter after removing the rubber bung, RAVE says 4 but I can only find 3?

Hi everyone, diesel engine removal going ok .... everything off except the gearbox bolts. In the Rave manual it doesn't say anything about taking the engine out only, just the engine and gearbox together. I was going to support the gearbox on axle stands, remove the bolts and lift the engine...

Thanks guys, you have made me feel better so I bought the BMW engine. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is changing the flywheel. I will check the engine out first before I fit it , another question , what's the best way to clean it up first, Gunk?

Hi Guys, got to replace my diesel engine and there seems to be plenty of BMW and Omega engines about, anyone know how complicated it is to change bits over from an engine that's been in a manual car to my auto P38?
