    Fuelling, Diesel injection, etc help/suggestions

Depends how old the belt is. Some say belt stretch, but I've never known a belt to stretch so far that it causes a headache, if it's new was it tensioned up properly? It's possible and only possible that the hub on the pump shaft has moved during your rebuild process, in which case re-timing...

    Fuelling, Diesel injection, etc help/suggestions

Sounds like pump timing to me, as others have said it's easy to check, set engine to tdc, there's a slot in the flywheel which can be seen through the hole in the bellhousing. If you've got one, insert locking tool here. Whip small cover off front of timing case and you should be able to slip a...

    Classic Where is this classic?

just wondering if anyone knows of the whereabouts of a certain Range Rover? Plate on it is K72 HRP, in green, jacked up to the clouds, big wheels flared arches etc. I saw it the other day parked in the car park of a sale in ruthin north wales, and realized it was my cousin that built it a few...

    Dti timing fuel pump

A bit of background to this one, I've got an ex-discovery 300 egr engine in my defender, all mounted up in the factory position and I've decided to time it "properly". Rave suggests the plunger lift for egr is 1.40mm @ tdc, which mine was thereabouts, and 1.54mm for non-egr. Last night the dti...

    Engine seized 300tdi

I did wonder about belt on the first page of this thread, keep your chin up with it, at least you now know where your going. I wouldn't worry too much about the scoring of the bores, provided you can't feel anything suspect with a finger nail. It is showing signs of ring wear and slight glazing...

    Engine seized 300tdi

No I agree, strange one that is. Possible broken ring but then that doesn't explain slow turning over. Unless of course one problem has highlighted something else that was lying dormant before.

Clutch pedal adjustment - am I missing something?

If you google the part number I gave above FRC2402, it should show up some suppliers, but be aware, it's only about 1.5-2mm in thickness so you could need a few. If so, I'd be looking at whether you have the correct pushrod in there (could be too long). Ironically, I'm having the same trouble...

Clutch pedal adjustment - am I missing something?

Agreed. Gasket does make a difference. You won't ever actually alter the bite point of the clutch, you'll just increase or decrease the amount of free play at the pedal. Slave cylinder shim is the way to go first off, or failing that, cut a slot in two M6 washers and fit them up between slave...

Clutch pedal adjustment - am I missing something?

Don't panic just yet, you've got a different late style of pedal box which not many people know about. I only know about it because I've gone through the same head scratching process this weekend. The bolt your talking about is NOT a pedal height bolt, but rather a stroke limiting screw. The...

    These shocks don't look right...

Oh granted yeah, don't get me wrong I totally understand that and I do agree with what your saying, I'm not fussed with the articulation flex of the bushes as such, that's to be expected to a certain degree, but surely they aren't sitting correctly in the other pics either though? That last shot...

    These shocks don't look right...

can anyone shed any light on why these rear shocks aren't sitting right? It's a disco 24 spline axle on a 1992 200tdi 90 chassis with police spec red/white springs. Everything is fitted as per including the domed washers either side of the bushes and nothing appears bent? Is there a difference...

Defender 90 Temp gauge playing up

I had an issue with mine which is a VDO gauge and sender, where it would climb above normal running temp when I turned the lights on, or the electic fan up front also sent it dicky. I fitted a braided earth strap between the back of the head and the bulkhead and all is good again now.

Changing Disco R380 to fit Defender tunnel

Absolute doddle mate, buy the quadrant and selector shaft extension from ashcrofts, follow the guidelines set by them, and the defender top drops straight back onto the disco box. It's what's in mine and works a treat, even though the box has done 160k plus. I've got a picture of it on my phone...

    New clutch is high?

Yes I've adjusted the rod and pedal position to the manual specs and it's pretty much the same. Never thought of slave shims, is that normal practice would you say?

    Interior light.......????

I fitted an led strip light in the back of mine, the same one mud uk sell, and when coupled up to the door switches via interior light that also glowed. Must be a landy thing. As said leds take next to nothing power wise to make them shine

    New clutch is high?

Finally I've got the old girl back on the road in full 300tdi factory guise, engine, box floor plates etc, but for some reason the clutch feels high? It's had a new clutch kit while it was all stripped, the systems fully bled with a good pedal, and I've adjusted the pedal position today to the...
