    Major clutch problems.

Have seen this a few times on the TD4, if you can manage to drive it, even though its a pig to change gear just preserver with it, it will be air in the system. Have know them after a few days to get better as the air raises. It could be worth just trying it before you start to explore other...

When you unlock the car is it then that the window comes down. As holding the unlock button on the fob in normal operation for 5 seconds make the window drop. Could it be the button on the fob sticking.

2,8td diesel freelander 2003 engine light on

Some of us are a little more forgiving to newbies. Unfortunately there are a number of things that it could be, but with the light on would look at a fuel issue. Can you hear the low pressure pump in the driver side rear wheel arch running with the ignition on. If so then lift bonnet and have a...

    Fuel starvation

Hi Andy, stupid question but how it going. Wish I had seen your post earlier as have a spare pump kicking around that you could have tried. Not come across your problem but must be a bit out of the fuel filter?. Give me a shout next time if you still have my number if you need any parts as...

    3 amigos

Whilst it does sound like a faulty sensor, I know you say the brake lights work ok, for the cost of one I would change the brake light switch. Once came across a similar problem brake lights worked ok, but three amigos were on, changed switch and bingo,

    Fuel filter TD4

When they changed the fuel filter to the rear wheel arch, they also went to a single pump. If you do decide to change the pump then go for a OEM pump as some of the cheap pumps around have had bad reviews.

    Fuel filter TD4

You will find it is in the drivers side rear wheel arch, its a bit of a pig to do. Its easier to remove the entire cradle and fit filter on the bench. The filter was changed to wheel arch on 2002/2003

    Rear Window Shanangans

The other thing it can be is wear on the cables. as it only drops a small amount when opening the tailgate, the motor and pulleys move the correct amount but the cables need to take up the slack due to the wear and the glass only move half the amount.

    Still no brakes - ARRRRRGH!

Been following this with interest, it does sound like to much travel on a front calliper or wheel cylinder, or still air in the system are the back shoes adjusted ok ?. What I would do is clamp all the flexi hoses off and see if you get a pedal with engine on if so release one at a time and re...

    Brake conundrum

Hope that the spring is the cause of you issues, but which ever position the spring is fastened to it still just gives downwards pressure. The main issues are normal the arm, the hand brake cable fastens to. They don't pivot freely due age last one I did took a good hour to totally free. If the...

    Play in rear diff

Thanks for the info, I did think about that, however the prop is off and I can not get any unusual movement in any direction. It does appear to be from the rear and more like a tyre out of balance however now the prop is off its fine. Did think about the IRD but its only a vibration no...

    Play in rear diff

Should there be any play in a rear diff, was getting a vibration that was getting worse. With the rear end off the floor, I can get about 10deg of movement in the wheel till it starts to move the output shaft to the prop. I am assuming that the pinion and crown wheel should be fully meshed...

    Replacing CV joint. Special tools?

Have used J & R a number of times including one for a TD4 with no problems, apart from the hub nut on the TD4, the one supplied was larger across the flats and we could not get clearance through the hole on the wheel to tighten back up. So you may need to buy a new hub nut separately only a few...

TD4 turns over but will not run after work done

Due to it being a common rail system it not like a petrol where if it was a spark plug failure it would run on 3 cylinders. If 1 injector fails it will not pressurise the common rail and will not start, on cranking if memory serves you need to obtain around 2000 psi on cranking once it...

TD4 turns over but will not run after work done

It does point towards a leaking back injector, or rail not pressurising, have seen it once before , engine running fine, injectors removed put back in and it caused the issue. I know a lot will say don't do it, but as a easy test, use a squirt of easy start, if it fires and runs fine till...

    Turbo Vent Filter Missing?

what you are looking at is the vacuum reservoir, all the pipes should be attached unless it the feed to the ERG valve that has been blanked off. Find the turbo solenoid located at the side of the turbo it should have three outlets, one pressure in, one out to turbo the third to vent filter. Do...

Where do I find the MAP sensor?

Map sensor is bolted into the end of the inlet manifold, as you look at the engine from the front its the bottom left hand side of the manifold held in by one bolt 10mm if memory serves , its a bit fiddly but can be removed with out taking the manifold off.
