Hi, I have a 55 Plate TD4. Been having a few problems with lack of power. Took it to the mates garage yesterday and one of the lads plugged it in. Diagnosed Map sensor. I forgot to ask him where to find it on the engine.

Help appreciated.

Thanks

As you look at the engine from the front, where the rubber hose comes up from the bottom left, there's a small plastic thing in the horizontal before it goes on, has a couple of wires going into it, thats your MAP sensor

No idea on the Freelander, but on the M51 engine it's located on the fuel filter and connected to the inlet manifold by a pipe. It will either be in the manifold or connected to it by a pipe I would guess.
Others will know for sure.

I though that was the air temp sensor?

Map sensor is bolted into the end of the inlet manifold, as you look at the engine from the front its the bottom left hand side of the manifold held in by one bolt 10mm if memory serves , its a bit fiddly but can be removed with out taking the manifold off.
