CRACKED HEAD Engine runaway - VOSA investigation

hmmm, the draw from an engine running full pelt is quite significant. This would have to be quite a substantial piece of kit! Perhaps an exhaust brake combined with the inlet flap, or a CO2 extinguisher plumbed to discharge into the inlet when you pull the cable might be a better bet?

just started remedial work on the disco.

Just think how much a garage would have charged you just to know what you need to fix.... There DIY seems better already doesn't it! Even on jobs I can't or on't have the time or equipment to tackle, I will still do the diagnosis myself where possible, as for some faults, that can be more...

    Little switch on lock barrel.

Is it also used for inputting the EKA code if your alarm / immobiliser has a paddy? If so I would fix it rather than wait to be properly stranded!

Towing a trailer - lockout the EAS?

I don't think you want to lock it out using the switch under the seat, as I remember that isolates the whole system, and you won't get the self levelling or any other benefits. You just need to set the height lock (Can't remember the correct name, long time since I had a rangie) on the dash, so...

    Fitted a NATO hitch

Umm, you know that you should only use a rotating hitch with the fixed ring fitted to most widetrack sankeys? Also, how do you get the pin in and out of that jaw now? However I like the bracket, looks better than some of the ironmongery you see bolted on back there! MW

    Suspension Remote Control - Programming

Hi Folks, I have searched. Couldn't find a clear answer to this one. If someone has posted already then I apologise. I've just been given a remote SLS fob, from a Discovery that has been changed to springs. Unfortunately it did not come with a barcode. I have found reference here to...

What mileage is your Disco 2 on?

I'm just short of 103000, but both gearbox and engine were replaced in that time (50k and 70k by landrover, with them paying! All documented. A previous owner must have been very determined, or had a massive account with them! Still all the better for me! MW

I think she has seized it!!

The Pump itself doesn't have to be leaking to run dry. It would still seem to me that that the theory above is most likely. ACE fluid low, pump runs dry and dies, belt thrown and then everything else. Trouble is, do you invest in new pump, and fixing pipes, or a removal kit and kill the...

I think she has seized it!!

It could be bad luck that this has failed just after being fixed.... However, there is also a question about it being over-tensioned, or somehow misaligned. That said, if you knew it was leaking, can you be certain it had not run out of fluid and cooked the pump? Proving whether or not the...

Not just the earths, the positives too! If it still does it, try using a jumplead to bypass the various cables, and see if that shows which one is the problem. MW
