    Disco 2 TD5 - Heater Blowing Cold

Having replaced the cylinder head on the vehicle and running it up (bleeding the cooling system and performing the “heater hot” test) – the old top hose began leaking (due to age / de-lamination). I dispatched my wife to collect a new replacement accordingly. I fitted the replacement pipe, bled...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Replaced N/S/R wheel bearings whilst sorting the leaky hub seal. ALWAYS check your axle breathers, that's what usually does for the seals...true to form, mine were blocked, must've missed 'em on my last service schedule.....lesson re-learned... Replaced rear pads whilst at it (worn and...

Disco 1 Britpart standard suspension - my thoughts

Yep - standard height heavy duty Britpart springs and shocks, replaced steering damper too - on my D1 2 years ago. Tows the caravan and (often heavy) trailers superbly - good, comfortable ride, and actually attempts reasonable handling (for a tall barge)...on standard wheels and tyres (although...

    Disco 1 TDi 3 door

Sounds like youre a competent wrench-weilder - so this should be straighforward for you. Get yourself a copy of LR Rave, its all covered in there. Terrafirma - usually very good and reliable stuff, and reasonably priced for the more standard stuff too. Im using the blue-boxed stuff (Britpart)...

    Disco 1 TDi 3 door

Thats a tidy looking D1 - and if thats all it needs, even better!! Im running standard height/heavy duty springs and shocks atm - its given about a 2 inch rise over how it was (most of that'll be due to the tired/old suspension it replaced...) - rides great and tows superbly (caravan...

    honest opinion project landie

Disco 2 around the £1500 mark is going to need a world of work and money. Chap in our village bought his "bargain" D2 2 months ago for £1800 - hasnt stopped spending on it yet and still aint on the road! For your budget, go for a Disco 1 300TDi Auto - great project vehicle, easy to work on...

Any thoughts on this mess up.

Any smell of diesel in the old oil? Sometimes known to suffer from "bore wash" - excess diesel from faulty injectors washing past the rings...

    Front Brakes help please

Dust / Return seals the pistons should have a rubber seal that prevents dust getting at the pison and bore - that exerts a small amount of return, the seals actually inside the caliper are formed in such a way they retun the piston when the hydraulic pressure from the Master cylinder is released

    Front Brakes help please

Sorry - just saw your other comment - if they free off with the nipple open thats showing pressure holding in the system, probably master cylinder if they dont free off then its the calipers holding the pistons
  17. Pauldw

    Front Brakes help please

certainly sounding more and more like calipers not returning - if the dust/return seals are too tight, wont retract the pistons fully

    Front Brakes help please

Without fitting the anti rattle shim/spring and with the pistons pushed back - can you wiggle the pads freely (the shim is designed to stop this "pad rattle") If no - again, could be paint on the pads fouling on the pins (you said you've used new pins) or inside the caliers on the pad runs...

    Front Brakes help please

you say "the new pads are very tight with the new pins and clips too." - are we talking about tight to push in? Have you filed off the paint on the pads where they slide top and bottom of the calipers? Some aftermarket pads can have quite a thickness of paint where the pads physically sit...

    Flat spot/hesitant/mis-fire

Basics first - fuel filter/Air filter/check condition of intercooler/turbo hoses Then - check the Injector harness - very common, loads of info on here Is the turbo boosting - can you feel/hear in coming in/out? Injector seals...? Seeing a few more D2's with injector seals failing...
