Defender TD5 Leak ball/swivel front axle

This is the seal that needs to be replaced. Swivel Housing Oil Seal I think I can see where you are coming from because it does seem like a lot of time to replace such an inexpensive part, but that's how it is. If I was doing mine I would use dag019's second description. :p This would mean brake...

    Hub still leaking

G reg 90 with disc brakes on rear axle. Rear hub seal was leaking on one side, so I replaced seals, bearings, discs and pads on both sides. 200 miles in and its still leaking, all over my discs. quite sludgy (assume from oil mixing with pad dust?). When I stripped down, I found my thrust...

    Hub leak

I put a bead of silicone around the edge of the cap when I take mine off and replace them. They don’t seem to leak.

    Disco 2 Lower ball joints

If they're not leaking already, I don't think you should replace them as they don't experience any kind of fluid pressure where they are. Just go easy when you remove and install the drive shaft and keep it centered so the seal won't get deformed. Giving the drive shaft a little bit of...

TD5 Auto g/box temp light stays on

Thanks Discool & rich28uk for the replies, I checked Rimmer Bros for the price of the switch LR £121.79 ouch ! pattern £48.60 still not cheap for what it is but it's cheaper & easier than a g/box overhaul. The ATF I drained out is brown so I've got a sump filter & oil to do along with of the...

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Ok @ifloochies I've taken the turbo outlet pipe off today :( So the picture below shows the outlet pipe turned up out of the way with a boy racer air filter clamped on it. I've taped a cereal box up against the inner wing in direct line with the turbo outlet. Drove about two and a half miles...

Ok, so I'll apologise in advance for the long thread, but some background may be relevant... Plus if you're bored, it will give you a laugh and make your day seem a whole lot better! I purchased my 2005 TD6 Vogue SE in June 21 having pondered for a long while. Diesel went against the grain a...

    Project Rusty.

That’s odd!! I bought my fender for good money for a Land Rover specialist. So many bodges but the worst was that theyd bodged a 48spline wheel on a 36 shaft. I only discovered that this month thank fcuk) when it was having a drop arm conversion and alignment done. They popped the steering...

    L322 TD6 transmission adventures

Sounds like one for @Bemble I would say you have incorrectly located the torque converter into the front of the box so the oil pump drive is not engaged and may indeed be broken. The pumps are self priming.

Is it safe to drive with one rear half shaft removed?

I'm not that well up on the Disco, but I'm pretty sure the last oil seal I did involved removing a large nut on the end of the half shaft, so the hub can be withdrawn from the hub carrier. I could have got it mixed up with another vehicle, but I thought it was assembled like this.

    Lt77 Output Shaft Wear levels

youd have to be careful not to knock the input seal when fitting, whilst you do have to align the splines the shaft acts as a guide

Series 3 Front Half Shafts - Inner bearing and distance piece

Stripped down the front axle today and opened up some blue boxes of Land Rover loveliness, only to find that the Britpart swivel kit does not include the inner bearing, oil seal or distance piece! Damn, damn. More postage..... My half shafts (pictured) have some pitting and corrosion on the...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

@Hicap phill Well, I've used the Britpat kit parts for the CV and stub axles. Apart from the round split spring clip on the end of the half shafts. The one that slides through the splines in the CV joint and opens up once the splines of the half shaft are fully home. You'll know the one. Anyway...
