Just a small picture to show the finish of POR-15 on my bumper and this is quite rough to be honest. I used an etch primer prior to painting.

That would have certainly been easier. I galvanised my winch bumper and just bought some etch primer so that I could paint it with POR-15. Once that is done I will show some photos. I did think about doing my chassis but I figured you wont see most of it so I am not going to do it.

I saw on fleabay a company callled stormwipers that do conversions for landrovers which do away with the old window washer. Instead they have wipers with the washer jet fitted to them and pipework from the existing source. Has anyone tried this method and if so how well does it work?

That happened to me, I did the usual checks then steadily checked the injector pipes and behold one was loose and must have been sucking in air.As soon as I tightened it up everything was fine and no problems since. Alex

I bought a front Axle from a breakers yard who said the axle was from a 1996 defender. I am looking at what i think is the indent number but is this correct 14M06438A ?

I did look at that and tried to have a go but stopped just in case I was not doing it right. I figured if I bent this back I would have to replace the nut. I will give it a go cheers,

Guys, thanks so much for the advice. I agree with the wire rope as it will stand more abuse. I don't plan on doing much recovery work unless I get stuck, i realise that you all use your winches for different applications and opinions will vary. Thanks again, Alex

Many thanks guys, I turned the engine over a little bit and it went in a treat. I will probably have to take it off again as I ruined the gasket and it only has sealer on it. But I fitted it replaced all the pipes and hey presto it fired up and is working well again.

Need help guys, followed the steps on how to change a manual lift pump on my 200tdi. WHen I have the pump in my hand it pumps fuel no problem, as soon as i attach it and tighten it up it doesnt work. The pump handle just goes straight down with no resistance. What am I doing wrong here?
