Hi All I Know There Is lot on here on ABS , However. I Have A D1 300 Tdi ES 1996 P-Reg.
MOT around the corner. The ABS Light is Constant..
As I'm going around the vehicle one by 1 checking Bearings brakes ect.

Discover Front, LHS Top Swivel Pin Bearing Smashed.
Sensor crushed stuck .

Anyway Replaced Swivel Ball and Bearings, wheel Bearings, all Seals, Even Cv's and sensor..

Still Have Constant ABS light on..

When I Have attempted to do the Blink test. NOTHING Happens ...Suggestions Please??...... IMG_20201115_190557.jpg IMG_20201103_154819.jpg

Hi. Are you sure you did everything well for the blink test ? i attach you the correct procedure(dont bother with the engine type, it's irrelevant) if you followed 100% that procedure and no joy then you should find a known good ABS ECU and replace it. Did you checked all the involved fuses and relays ?

Hi Thanks for replying.
I believe I done the procedure correct looking at the Pdf.
I have checked the Abs Valve relay, Abs pump relay And Abs Light Relay once but will check again for sure.
The Pdf you sent is much better than the one I have already. Thanks for that.
Do you know the locations of All ABS Fuses? .
There Is Probably a List on here somewhere lol.

And if it is the Abs Ecu..
do you have to Reprog or is it just, plug and play .
And Thankyou Again For Replying.

I dont know by heart where the fuses are on a D1, i know well only the D2, it should be in RAVE. As about the ECU, it's plug and play

If you dont already have RAVE it will be hard to find one now for free so download these
1. Discovery 1 Owners Manual
2. Discovery 1 Elecrical Manual LJBEMENR95
3. Discovery 1 Workshop Manual

UPDATE. Today after looking at all pdf's yesterday/last night.
Had another atempt at blink test today. And Nothing. Soo..
Checked All fuses Again was all fine.
I pulled ABS Relays out again and checked them. They was all fine.
I also pulled every other Relay out Passenger footwell, tested them too, all fine. Put them all back.
And then tried Again..and boom. She started to Flash ..
Only now I Cannot determine the code.
It goes.
1Flash - 2Flash - Pause - 1Long Flash. Then Just Repeats..
Is That Code 1:2.. if so I can't find on the Pdf you sent over..
And Thank you Again For Your Knowledge.

Yes, that PDF is clear with the procedure but doesnt explain well the codes, here's the best for codes https://www.rswsolutions.com/index....odes/267-discovery-i-abs-blink-code-procedure so it seems you have 2 - 0 ECU failure which would explain the initial erratic behaviour too as it's possible that the ECU was resurrected by the ''hard reset" it got when you removed relays/fuses
Yes I thought this was the case. again thank you. .
And with regards to when I replace ecu.
Should be just a case of swapping like mentioned before.
. Re-check the codes and clear the codes?

So after finding the Abs ecu was Kaput. Finally have a new one..
And is working..
The ABS Light is Still on.
The New ecu gave codes. 2-14: LH Front sensor Air gap.
which made sense. Because the sensor was smashed and stuck in the Swivel Housing..Anyway.
Swapped sensor. Cleared that one. Now getting code.4-12: RH front sensor High Resistance/Open Curcit..

HAVE checked sensor plug and ecu plug and have a connection there ?. Any suggestions..

..and another thing. Underbonnet fuse 40 amb strip fuse. Abs pump one. Keeps Blowing. Gone thru handful of 40 amps..
.Sorry for long reply. Have Been MOT prepping / Alot of welding..Not Long To Go Now .

And I'm not sure if it's got anything to do with it but. Every single Light is Pulsating.dash,ABS ,headlight, fogs, Brake and interior.[Altinator Gone?]
Oh yeahh..and won't start with the key. Mostly In the mornings. After being left over night. But now more Intermittent.
After she's started. Will turn off/over all day with the key?? ...
(I Have A Switch To Start Her Up When She Dosnt Play Ball.)
[Start inhibitor?]
Might have to make Another Few Posts LOL.
Thanks.
Rusty.

Swap the sensor with a new one

Underbonnet fuse 40 amb strip fuse. Abs pump one. Keeps Blowing. Gone thru handful of 40 amps.
Unplug the pump and if the fuse stops blowing then it's a short in the pump

I have no ideea about the pulsating lights, might be the alternator but corroborated with the starting issue you should rule out the ignition switch

As long as the fuse doesnt blow with it unplugged it's definitely the module and the problem is in the other side where the electrics are

With a multimeter, measure the resistance of each one of the solenoids, they should be similar values. Go across the soldered terminals on the back of each one. Now you have the back off Im curious...

Looking at the picture, is the track to the top left solenoid valve damaged or overheated ?

Okay. Thanks. Have been looking at a 2nd hand module ANR 5263.The same as in mine.
Can you change Just the solenoids. Without Fluid loss? . Thanks
