Hi there

I'm throwing myself at the mercy of the forum as I have a problem that I just cant sort or even make progress with. The problem manifests itself as follows:

1) Car starts with no warnings or lights, everything fully operable.

2) Drive away and although sometimes it takes much longer for the warning to come on - maybe a couple of minutes in some instances, around 15mph (when Im driving on the road where I live coming up to a junction), without touching the brake pedal I get the following warnings:

HDC Fault - System Not Available
Suspension Lowered
Centre HDC Light comes on
ABS and Parking Brake Lights come on.

The car is still driveable but occasionally when continuing to drive it, soon after these lights/warnings have come on, I get a 'Transmission Overheat' warning but again, the car is still perfectly driveable.

Unfortunately a lot of things happened at the same time when this started. This information is purely to see if anything rings true with anyone. Firstly we had a new screen fitted and the Technician left the drain pipe off the bottom of the window wiper scuttle so water was discharging onto the battery - found and fixed but problems continued and got worse - one day we had to have the car recovered as the faults just prevented the car starting. It became evident that the wheel bearings were gone. These were replaced as were all the bushes and ball joints, track rod ends and ABS sensors. This stopped the car getting to the point that it wouldnt start but the above warnings still came up. The reluctor rings are in excellent condition as I bought two to swap, but the orginals are immaculate and actually put the patterned ones to shame. Ive changed the brake light switch and the battery was bought a couple of months prior to these issues starting and is a Bosch one and is in excellent condition.

I do hope that there may be someone out there that has had similar problems. The local Auto Electrician has had a look and is coming to read the codes again for me this afternoon but given that he’s already done a lot of investigation work on it, I’d like to offer him some of other peoples advice/pointers.

If you can't help then I appreciate you reading the post but if you can, Id love to gain some pointers as to where to start first.

Many thanks for looking

Darren

Normally first to check is the battery i know its new but it could still be bad.
whats the battery voltage with engine off and what does it read at 2000rpm with everything turned on.
what trim level have you got if its a vogue they need a bigger battery which a lot of suppliers dont know and you end up with one to small.

Hi there and thanks for taking the time to reply.
Both the AA and the Auto Electrician said the battery was good and there were no issues with that when they were investigating. I’d already seen that a number of these issues can be traced back to battery levels so particular attention was paid to it by them.
The battery is the right one for the car listed by Bosch so whilst I’m going to take your advice and re-test it, two professionals have said it was fine.

Have you had it on LR specific diagnostics ?
As @brianp38dse says, what year, engine, spec is it?
+1 this was going to be my suggestion. When Golden Girl was playing up, nice local truck mechanic put his diagnostics on. Came up with height sensor fault, but wouldn't tell him anything else. I almost bought new sensor, but in meantime I got AA to fully charge battery, battery a happy teddy, EAS , supposed hard fault, gone.

Hi everybody - thanks for your replies but I had the auto electrician around last night just to get me a list of fault codes as he didnt have a lot of time, but he checked the battery again and said its definately not the battery - the battery is charged to 98% across 100% of the plates - but thank you kindly for your input.
