Propshaft bearings, who’s best?

Hey folks, how we all doing? Been a while since I was on. I did my prop bearings 4 ish months ago and the front ones rumbling already ‍.

So, last time I bought middle priced ones from eBay and appears I’ve had bad luck.

Can anyone suggest/vouch for a seller on eBay or something similar? Is there a confirmed good manufacturer etc?

I really don’t wanna be doing them again in 4 months.

GKN are the only ones worth fitting, as they are what LR fitted in the factory.

What do they sell at paddocks ?

Thanks matey I shall get some of them ordered up tomo. There is a seller on eBay who says his are gkn ones, he’s after £109 for the pair iirc. Does that sound about right?

I had a similar experience with mine, I got the vcu & bearings from Bell Eng. back in Aug. 17 & they lasted about 6mths./ 6,000 miles. I replaced with some from British Parts UK. but what I did do was remove the rubber seals on the bearings & pack them with a high load grease, they've now done just over 20,000 without any more issues. I did speak to Rob from Bell at the time & he was honest & said it's a bit of a lottery with them best stick to genuine (GKN). The VCU that was changed had GKN stamped in it so I assume that & the bearings were genuine & been on from new (the car had done 134,656 miles when they were changed !) Here are the pictures of the original FAG bearings( if you Google the bearing no.which I believe are slightly wider than than all the after market bearings & the ones that only lasted 6,000 miles.

FAG bearings are a premium bearing, manufactured to a high specification. Dimensionally all VCU bearings are the same, as it's a standard size, it's the quality of them that differs.

Ideal, thanks very much for the info. It does sound like these ones have just gone dry tbh, spins fine but sounds like a skateboard wheel lol. I think if I use ever use cheap ones again then ill open the side and pack it to heck with grease. For now I’ll go for the gkn ones and see how
well they do. My landy is a mobile mechanic work vehicle so does 20,000 a year with haste lol so defo need something that lasts. Hell, I’ve had it since last November and I’ve serviced it 3 times already but it eats miles up with ease.
