egr braided hose

The braided like hose that connects to the egr... have I been reading correctly that if I detach this and block it the egr will be disabled??

If so does it matter if it's reattached once blocked. There's only one braided like small hose in that area so I think I'm on about the right one
 
I literally just gone to do it. All I did was touch the hose and it came off from underneath. Is it OK to just disconnect it as I can't see where it goes to

It's come off the control solenoid, which is under the manifold, above the starter. You can block the pipe at the other end, where the vacuum pipe splits off the main circuit. You must plug the pipe, or the vacuum will deplete while the EGR solenoid is being opened by the EDC. This will cause sluggish boost from the turbo, which isn't good.

Right so if I'm with you... it's come off the solenoid, I can leave it off but plug the pipe....

Or I need to get it back on the solenoid and plug it at the other end
 
You can leave it off the EGR control solenoid if you like. But you must block the vacuum pipe from the main vacuum circuit, where it goes to the EGR solenoid.
 
Right so I left the pipe off the control solenoid and blocked the pipe at that end. And it's still connected to the egr.
