L322 Aux cigar socket, are they meant to be constantly live

I was looking into using a Bluetooth radio transmitter to play music from my phone and thought I'd be clever and keep it hidden in the centre console but the aux socket is permanently live, I checked and all 4 of mine are live without ignition on, is there a way to have any that turn off with the ignition?

That's odd, most cig lighters are switched live! Usually older cars I've had were live permanently.
I don't suppose in the complexity of these buses it's an option is it?

L322 is permanent live...

P38's are switched,

Classics are live

That's typical, might have to see if it'll flatten the battery if left for a day or 2, can't Imagine it's that power thirsty

Im not familliar with the l332 wiring at all. but at the end of the day there will be a switched live somewhere for something (radio, lights, dash etc, just a case of tapping into it with a relay to feed whatever socket you want to use. Could be an option if you find battery gets drained.

'Ere not always, my current '87 isn't.

Looks like you don’t need an ignition aux now anyway, found a hidden iPod dock, need to find a cable to connect to it now so I can run it through an Jack plug

My L322 is switched. I'd better look for the other 3 sockets as I've only ever seen the one.

The only good feature on my previous Jeep GC was that it had a couple of these sockets, one live, one switched so that you could choose.

You should have 1 by the gear selector,
I in the Centre cubby box, 1 behind the cubby box for the rear passenger compartment and 1 on the right hand side of the boot by the light.
All of mine are constant live,
Although they might go off once the car goes to sleep but I haven’t waited long enough to check

Maybe I was generalising - my '88 was live and so was my '92...odds on, they are all different due to the 'laziness' of the installation tech.!!!

Odd, my 2003, all the sockets were live - I know this as I used to leave my phone on charge in the car while I was out shooting, I also used to use an inverter in the boot socket for charging a small laptop that run diagnostic software

I wonder if they are all different ala my comment about the classics above!!

Neither are the ones on my 92

Interestingly my '93 (first owner was LR themselves) was switched.
You'd think they would be standardised but maybe regulations change ie switched so that kiddies left alone in the car can't play & burn themselves?
