Pretty sure I saw one of these at a dealership way back when the Freelander was launched, would have been around 1997 I think. But never really seen another.

Anyone know if they exist or if you can buy the bits and convert a hardback 3 door?

Google images only seems to show promo pictures of them.

I bought a softtop to fit to my freelander commercial that I've put back seats in to, although I have never fitted it. I've had the hard top off to repaint it in satin black, and it looks like a plug and play conversion to put the soft top on it but like you I'd like to know for certain from someone that has done it.

Soft back was a standard factory fit on early 3 door entry level models with hardback as an option.

The concept of the soft back was better then the application and was a lengthy process to fold/unfold

I guess a lot of owners upgraded to the hardback which was available as an accessory (softback was available as an accessory as well for changing from a hardtop)

Thanks. Do you know. Was it ever a production option? Seems odd with so many Freelanders for sale that there aren’t any in this config.

The Freelander was available as a Wagon (5 door), a Hardback (3 door with removable hard rear roof) and a Softback (3 door convertible rear roof).
So yes it was sold as a production model. The Softback just was not very common in the UK.

Hi. Only if it’s no bother. What sort of money would you be after? Feel free to message me if you don’t want to post it up here.
