Buying my first ever Series 1

Good afternoon to everyone.
I’m looking to buy my first ever Series 1. I’m from Uruguay, South America. There is not a big Landy culture here, so most of the ones that are still rolling have been tastelessly modified (swapped with cheap Nissan diesel engines, Fast and furious like body modifications made with fibreglass, you name it). After some time looking for one I came across one that is mostly original, only the soft top is aftermarket since the original canvas one is rotten. I’ve seen so many awful things that as soon as I saw it I wanted to hug the owner and take it home as quickly as possible. However, as it is my first Landy I want it to be a happy experience and without surprises. I’ve read tons of buyers guides, videos and articles about buying Series vehicles. All the good boxes were ticked, but two things drew my attention. First is the freewheel hub, it is very weird and I’ve not seen anything like it in any picture. It has two long, flat levers that you have to pull, twist and push inside again. It is not a deal breaker but I want to know if it may be original. The other thing that is making me feel uneasy are the rear body panels. They seem to have some superficial rust and lack that chrome corner trim that late series 1 have. I asked the owner about it and he told me that those panels are not aluminium in South America since the trucks came here without them and then factories here used to assemble them using local materials. The owner seemed trustworthy, and all the other Series 1 that I’ve seen here are missing that piece of trim. However I want the opinion of more knowledgeable people, is it possible that that really used to happen? I will post the only pictures of it that I have, although they are not very good.

Looks nice.

Google Land Rover CKD, completely knocked down, which basically meant they shipped them abroad in kit form, and in some countries a certain percentage had to be made locally to avoid high taxes, in your case the rear body maybe?

More pics will get you more replies, as people on here like pics especially of LRs all over the world.
 
As far as i know, free wheeling hubs were always an aftermarket add on, not supplied by Rover.
The early series 1 was permanent 4 wheel drive, so maybe that's why you see an unusual free wheeling hub. My series 2 had a warning on the dash to say driving in 4wd with the hubs disengaged would damage them.
 
The biggest bit they don’t make anymore is the chassis. Make sure it’s serviceable.
It’ll be a constant job keeping everything going on anything this old. Even aluminium.
