Important thing is, im fine, landys generally fine just a few scratches.

On a more positive note I did start painting the top cover in Raptor, which I planned to install on Sunday but accidents happen and
A trip to A&E and a few stitches later and im back home. Got my finger stuck in a ring pull/key ring coil used to hang me tools, I slipped back my finger had other ideas... Rather hard to spanner now! Even harder to use a drill!
Did get the top cover painted before that though!
Took a fair while to properly key up, the grinder was red hot by the time I finished!
Took a whole can plus a bit extra to get full coverage with the Acid Etch, Grip coating was also used around the edges, hinge and lock.
Masking up neatly took just as long, got it 99% perfect, few little bits need touching up around the edges and the lock handle
Two coats of Raptor, one bottle per coat 55psi with the Shutz, gave the texture I wanted
Swing away carrier is on plus a brand new 285/75 Cooper Pro tyre on a 16x8 Anthracite Steel Wheel
With the tyre on the departure angle is ruined, so much so the carrier swung open, snapped the securing cable and put a small dent above the fuel filler! So next time I go off road the spare will come off and sit in/on the back.
Good thing is though the NAS rear step isnt half bad, it does dig in a little but not like a plough, a small slider for it would help though.

Not sure its meant to be this way up, but certainly looks at home!
Secured it to my mates landy stop it rolling down when we flipped it, was in gear handbrake on but cant be too careful!
Damage was less than expected, no dents just scratches and the window popped out but undamaged
Looks better already after a quick clean up!
Going to try some polish on it for now, then get those bits sprayed up at some point. Also probably going to push up the roll cage
I did notice a small chip in the Bowlers though it's small but there
Heres where the swing away swung open trying to climb, would have made it if I kept the momentum up!
Video of the recovery. Luckily we had a Mud Monsters marshal and two guys who run winch challenges often so was in good hands! 4 winches strapped on later and im right way up! Lucky I fit the sliders and the NAS Step!!

8 mins long but shows off the site quite well
Overall I think i've built a very capable landy! Did very well at the site bar the obvious roll over
Still getting used to it off road seeing what it can and can't do in comparison to my 90. Departure angle and break over angle are certainly worse but not much I can do there without some pretty extreme modifications I'd rather avoid.Full cage is definitely wanted! Got a few quotes on all on the rather high side, best so far is £2,500 for a custom cage or £3000 for the SD cage. Though Safety Devices themselves do fit them, just very rarely, apparently they do it for around £1700 which is a big saving!

As for the durability of the Raptor a little hit and miss. The steering guard and rock sliders both took a fair beating and are both unscathed (3 coats shutz gun), the NAS step however has a few chips where it has made contact with the ground (x3 coats HVLP, undiluted), the rear corner chequer plate has a chip but that was down to the swing away flying open so kinda fair enough really!
I would say from that any parts that are going to come into contact with things (sliders, guards, bumpers etc) give 3 solid coats of Raptor with the shutz gun. Anything that isnt going to be constantly impacted the HVLP gun should be fine. Though I wonder if doing say 4 maybe 5 coats with the HVLP would give the same strength as the shutz finish, at least give it a similar thickness.

Slight mishap! Went over a few speed bumps and the bloody spare carrier swung open
Had to stop in the middle of traffic to refit! So bought a carabina which ill sling through the antiluce, one more thing to undo before getting into the boot
Got a long old drive over the weekend up to Moreton on Marsh, so refitted the Allisport exhaust for a slightly less painful motorway trip

joking aside , glad ur ok and not too much damage done
well apart from ur pride , lol wonder how much time will need to pass before u live it down
we've all been there though
will be good to come and join u when mine is all done for a day out , put mine through its paces

Yeah its a nice little site, usually none damaging if the driver isnt an idiot
haha, it happens and the damage is minor considering lolYeah next time we go down Ill send you a message, good you can have a look thru my videos, see what youd be willing to put the D3 through!
Not a dash cam its my GoPro Hero Session, though I do use the £50 Nextbase dashcam which is really good. Ill post some footage for you next week if you remind me!
@Jam1 I'm guessing its down to the weighty tyre bouncing up and down then knocking the antiluce connector out. Tad annoying but easily solved. Thing is supprisingly there isnt that much support for swing away carriers on pick ups... unless you fork out for the £1k Nakatenga one....

I brought a tomtom Bandit the other day will getting some footage over the next few week cost 200 so a hell of a lot cheaper than a go pro

The GoPro is for taking footage off roading and when I go shooting haha. Though the tomtom one sounds decent, when you get some footage post it up.

Always the way haha! Has it got a G Sensor? Mine does and I had to turn it down to lowest setting as it would just go off and hard copy every clip due to the Defenders naturally rough ride, filling up a 64gb SD card in a few trips!

You know im not sure to be honest but its got gps overlay so when you edit the footage you can put a map next to show where you were at the time along with speed and altitude and best of all a 3 hour battery

Id have a look thru the settings, as last thing you want is for your SD card to be full in the event of a crash!

what i like about the site is u can go on easy or tougher terrain at ur leisure
can then so i can see how the D3 handles at first and will then take it through harder and harder terrain throughout the day
always takin every land rover to its limit , it then tells me what it will and won't do , how it handles ,hills, decent , different type of surfaces , with and without terrain response, suspension etc
but never take it to a damaging stage , just slow sensible , controlled and fun off roading
the next few months i imagine will be tied up finishing everything off, will then be great to get it off road
as i've never had a discovery before will be good to see of its capability, learning about it
most of all enjoying the vehicle and its surroundings
after watching the video is good seeing the course , some of the extreme break overs i would keep away from, but seen plenty there to have a great day out
also meeting other like minded 4x4 drivers
