IRD unit help!!

Hi everyone just bought a freelancer 1 diesel with the prop removed ird is blanked off but no noises or unexpected jumping could this just of been to make it 2wd or could I have bought problems with the ird please give me sum advice as I am lost
 
The number one reason for a removed prop & blanked IRD is something expensive has broken and this is a cheap bodge up .
