Hi guys,

After some advice.

Can anyone tell me the differences between Richards Chassis and Marsland Chassis Defender 110 1991 Chassis?

There is the obvious price difference, but what other differences are there.

I need to order one soon, but not sure which is best?

Richards are thicker steel and added reinforcing points. And they make them for what you got. Marshalls are all based on a td5. So the tank and hitch needs to be td5

Gave mate a hand to fit his richards 90 chassis the other day and was very impressed with the quality, they made a cock up with engine mount position and one phone call and 1 week later new new chassis turned up, so excellent customer service.

Marshland are a standard chassis modified to suit the age of the vehicle. Rear crossmember is true main difference so you'll need a new hitch which marshland will supply for £50. I went for a marshland because for all the mods I wanted it was far cheaper than a Richards one which you have to pay for any extras including the center crossmember. Saved me about £600 in total and I am really happy with my chassis. Oh and marshland do add in some reinforcing points aswell plus it has all the minor improvements made on the later chassis. Biggest downside of the marshland is that they won't stamp the chassis number in for you

I'm just about to buy one so would like to know what that means/entails please?

If you were to stamp it the galv would come off. Its not a major issue but to prove its right im going to fit a plate with the number on it. Ill also keep the remains of the original chassis number in the cab as evidence aswell. I think i might do a few and hide them around the chassis incase the worst happens. Bit OTT but id rather be safe than sorry. You wont regret getting a marsland one, im really happy with mine and they were really easy to deal with :)

Ah ok, thanks for that.

Out of interest - roughly whats the price of a Richards and whats the price for a marshlands....and yes I know it depends on what you want but perhaps Albert could share what his research showed? Ball park figures are fine!!

I would not think about keeping the old number plate in it. If it got stolen you got no proof, Stored at home in a safe spot you got proof

Thanks Guys.

From the look of it the Richards one wins on thicker metal, the only problem is that if they mess up the mounts they will have to collect and deliver the replacement to the Isle of Man, so hopefully there are no surprises there, just got to try and locate a bulkhead now!

I went for a marslands very happy with it iv got 300tdi engine mounts and fuel tank and a td5 rear xmember and they have welded on the brackets for the A frame, i went with them as they were a lot cheaper i didn't see the point in a Richards chassis and i find the original one chassis is strong enough and don't want the extra weight :)
