I got bored and gave it up. These detailers are all the same. He did some painting at Delorean. That must have been a short contract. I did 3 years at Vauxhall Ellesmere Port on and off doing rectification jobs. Hell I know nowt so I'lle shut up.

I'm trying to work out if that is a nice put down or if Delorean, famous for their stainless steel bodies, actually had a paint shop ???? I suppose they may have Hamerited the engine blocks.....

spraying stainless trims for Delorean cars.

Trims, not the whole car. Stainless trims for the door edges etc which were acid etch painted and then sprayed satin black. Done for a subby, not DL themselves.

Did loads of other stuff as well, compressors in that lovely shade of Compair Yellow. Bump repairs for a local van hire company. We even painted a load of corrugate roof sheets white for a bloke that wanted them. Anything really.

And it was a much better job than pulling pints in the local bar, paid better, boss was a really nice bloke and I learned a lot more than how to pull a beer or mop up puce.

But then, what could I possibly know? I'm just one of them detailers and they're all the same you know. ;)

And by your own admission you have no qualification to judge anyone from the repair sector. A bit like a plasterer telling a brain surgeon "you got that wrong mate".;)

I see one of my stalkers is back. Why not ask if your turd can be detailed?

Stalkers? You think that's what I've been doing with my one and only comment in the thread?! Hardly. I see you've been busy making friends all by yourself with no help needed from me.

Just depends if the brain surgeon was skimming a ceiling at the time Rob.:D:D:D

Go on then. I give up. Where exactly did I admit anything ??? (BTW, that's a rhetorical question)

Oh, wait a minute, I think I see now. So are you're an American in disguise then? You know, don't understand sarcasm, always got the biggest and when those 2 don't work you try and stay on top by demeaning everyone else. You also seem to refuse to accept that anything other than your way could possibly ever work.

Well I've tried to explain another side but you only ever counter with irrational and illogical statements, nothing of substance. Carry on in your own little world and feel smug with your delusions of grandeur but whatever, go wave your cock in someone else's general direction 'cos really, I ain't impressed.

Facts are I can do all manner of restoration work, I can paint, I can weld, I can spanner, I can detail, yes, even with a rotary polisher, and despite your statements that I'm the same as every other detailer, I seem to get quite a lot of repeat customers and recommendation work. Order books are full until mid 2012. Oh, and all that's before I get to my daytime job which I seriously doubt you have the brains to do.

Whereas, you're a one trick pony from what I can tell, a pony that refuses to acknowledge it's also possible to ride a horse, or perhaps more appropriately in your case, an Ass. There's none so blind as them that refuse to see.

Here you go, you should fit in perfectly here. The Flat Earth Society

Come on lads, it's not very difficult spraying and not very difficult polishing. For christ sake call a truce.

See. I highlighted it for you. It wasn't worth typing it because it had zero technical input.

Just depends if the brain surgeon was skimming a ceiling at the time Rob.:D:D:D
Fair point.

It is you that refuses to accept that your kowledge is limited to what A.N other told you. The fact remains that everyrhing you have said goes against Thatcham approved methods. They happen to be the industry standards. Horse, water, drink or am I wasting my time.

Jeez. I wish I'd just suggested:

Carlack Nano system...& Collinite......... then shut up! ha ha

Both skills (paint and detailing) are very valid and credible facets and anyone who states otherwise is either ignorant or feels threatened by the others trade. I agree having been trained to paint as well as spending tens of hours detailing my own mini-fleet that both skills are not simply "pick up a gun or pick up a polishing cloth", both get better with practice and both can produce amazing results. You would never see a show car win "best paint" by spraying alone......you can bet that car will have been 'perfected' and detailed to within an inch of its life prior to the judge even clapping eyes on it! I should know, I have enough trophies in this field. So both skills have contributed...

Without a decent paint job, no amount of detailing is going to clean up a turd to show standard, I know this and after having had so very many projects totally painted from scratch once again I state, without the awesome skills of a painter and panel beater the detailer wouldnt be able do his stuff and take that car to the next level.

But you cant class a valeter and a detailer in the same ballpark..... they are worlds apart, as are the polishes and resins that contain the fillers that those valeters like to use so much!

Respect to you both, now lets get those cars dirty!

Anybody can learn to spray paint in a few hours it's the prep that's the most important. Detailers are just seriously anal valeters. :D:D:D
