I think those videos were great fun.

Personally i found the commentary hilarious: "body's gone t'cock tommy" was my favourite.

I dont see any shame in having a few laughs before the car gets scrapped. Yeah, i'd like to crusade and save all the oldies too, but it aint gonna happen.

I think it's a bunch of guys having an exciting and entertaining time.

Fair play.

And i laughed :D

I think its quite good the only problem is that if he wants to trash cars why not go banger racing its safer and if somthing does go wrong there is always medical people about :)
keep the racing (and crashing) on the track
Rob

alot of mixed feelings about this one then. The way i look at it is they did what they wanted todo with it. some may call it a right laugh, others will say completely stupid. I guess its down to personal choice. My only question is if they were to do this at a pay and play site with permisson to do so would it then be classed and stupid or having a good time.

If they drove like that at a P&P site I'd expect em to get booted off site & banned. Cos if he drove like that near me. I'd drag the fooker out of the **** heap and twart the ginger cuunt.

It's been discussed a few times .. they are at an illegal off-road site, not a Pay 'n Play, so no medical help or Marshalls whatever. They were only lucky that others also go there to get the tow/help when needed.

no medical help or Marshalls whatever

That sums it up for me, granted it's his car and his money and whilst I think he's stupid wasting a car like that the fact that if something went wrong and someone was injured is what seals it; they would be waiting god knows how long for professional help.

Again very valid points. I know that the flappits is a working quarry, and that the layout changes daily. I personaly don't go to play site wether they are legal or not as i don't see the point in braking,or trashing my beloved landy. I got mine because it was a cheap 7 seater and plus i like them anyways. All i'm trying to say is that everyone has there own outlook on things.

The issue for me is selfishness, pure and simple. "I get my jollies by smashing things up, so here I go"

However, on another clip of these 'people' at the same site, "Tommy" -our hero (NOT!!!) is seen jumping his Disco and eventually breaking it's back. However, if you watch the clip carefully, he is seen flying through the air about a foot away from a smart-looking Defender.

How funny would that be if Tommy had made a slight error and landed on the Defender? I would have laughed my bâlls off at that, the silly tossers.

again also true. I don't agree with what they were doing, I just think that we should all live and let live on times. Sometimes on here posts can get alittle heated, and can't help but wonder if it puts other people off from posting.

I agree with that completely, so long as it doesn't affect others negatively.

I also agree that there can be way too much agressive posting on these forums from time to time. We all have different opinions and to each of us, we are right, but that does not mean the other guy therefore has to be wrong - if you see what I mean.

Live and let live - just do it with a mdicum of reponsiblity.

No-one has mentioned yet (unless I missed it) that putting up videos of daft 4x4'ers does not enhance the image of the 4x4 community. The vast majority of owners who want to, use their vehicles a. as a car and b. offroad in a calm and evironmentally sensitive manner. In other words NOT ragging up the countryside.

These videos give the daft politicians all the ammo they need to give us a good tanking- come Budget time.

I hope your not implying tommy is a car thief ??!!! According to the info given he paid 400 of his hard earned to buy that machine!

CANT YOU READ ie; irrisponsibilty, bad press, bad examples, ammo for the 4x4 anti,s,illegal site,,nobody said anything about being a car thief just that he,s an irrisponsible idiot +ammo for opposion of 4x4s not the best thing for youngsters to see is it ,,,,,,we are supposed to be showing responsibilty, maturity, ffs,,,,dave:doh:

I totally agree with what has been said. It does fuel the fire. I mean i'n still fairly new to this site, and on the odd time some of the replys i have had,or have read, have made me think twice about reposting. Same all over the world everybody is right with their view. But getting back on topic lol, yes posting vids like that can and do have split veiws. In one way it makes us all look like mindless dim wits that tear up what little greenbelt we have left all in the name of fun and yes i must disagree with doing things like that fuel for the fire. But then on the other hand it just goes to show the amount of abuse one of these fine beasts can take. Something like this will always provoke a mixed reaction. @ big dave 2 ,yes what you have posted is to true.

WE get enough bad press mate without advertising!!!!!,,nobody see,s my offroading it usually on the fells where we have our shoot or the farm, feeding phesants, stalking, repair work ect,but occasionally i get "why do you drive that great thing for,gas guzzeler ect",,,,,,folk think they have a right to say what they like, the last thing we need is idiots like "TOMMY" on our side,we have enough problems thanks,,,,,,,,,dave

Had similar problems where i live first it was, why drive that old heap and smog out the area,so ok run on pump bought bio diesel. The we get that thing stinks. Sadly 4x4's do have a bad press for days gone by. And yes maybe tommy and frank could have done it alittle better in that they rise awareness in a positive way. But thats never gone happen. So fight the good fight and try to discourage others but maybe we should all ues little more tacted in doing so. And who knows maybe one day i might even take mine to a pay'n'play centre.(Well aslong as it keeps going that is lol)

i totally agree, its just like people driving off piste on green lanes. Might not harm anyone but gived 4x4s a bad rep that get lanes closed and insurance to open up P&P sites go up

Good to see an old Landy getting a decent send off before being disposed of....their video kept me amused for a few minutes!

As long as it was done out of the way, away from out pride and joys and that none of us was injured then I cant see the problem really. The vehicles paid for,he's not on the public highway/green lanes etc

I watched the whole series about a month ago, there is something a little sinister the way the commentator is 'egging' him on like he's using his (the drivers) lack of experience to amuse himself by how fooked the Disco is becoming, maybe it's an MOT failure, or not worth saving,but...it does give the antis a great promotional video though.

He also looks like he is taking some risks with the way he was ascending/descending, but thats just my personal opinion, and i know nothing about off roading

A lot of people seem to think that Tommy and his friends trashed a car intentionally, i think you will find that the damage was only a byproduct of Tommys unique driving style and offroad enthusiasm. To be fair though he is a lot better behaved in his 90.

Back to the jeeps - wasn't it a couple of years ago when local authorities or insurance companys were publishing lists of claims for damage to cars done by poor road surfaces; I believe that jeeps came first for requiring repairs done by driving them on the road....

as for the **** on the video - fun to watch but yep afraid the grown up side agrees with other posters about the image thing.
