And you will need an IVA ( or whatever it's called these days) for it to be legal and you will get a Q plate. You will also need lots of receipts and paperwork before they will even consider allowing you to register it, unless you get the V5 with the chassis then it's a lot less complicated as...

I knew there was a peg involved somewhere between the wheel and the blue collar :)

IIRC the blue collar has a peg which locates in the steering wheel so it turns with the wheel.

It should be on the front dumb iron, right hand side IIRC.

I agree it is too much. BUT is TD5 the way to go? For me it would have to be a 300 tdi. For the best compromise between driveability and ease of maintenance it has to be the 300tdi. I'm sure others will disagree but there's nothing on mine I can't "do". Anything later and you're into electronics...

could we have a drawing with dimensions for your crank locking tool please. I borrow one for doing this this job but it would be nice to have a proper drawing on the forum for everyone who wants to make their own.

If paddocks are offering the "G" suffix part in a blue box you should be OK. Having said that I would be inclined to go for a "name" like Timkin or SKF or whatever regardless of what it says on the box.

I'm on my second Clarke welder (in 25 years). If you read through the mig welding forum, the Clarke Italian made blue box welders are quite well regarded for home/light use. (The Chinese built red box welders are not quite so well regarded)
Don't bother with "no-gas" it has it's uses but gas is...
