Hi,been offered a Wolf Chassis for to replace the chassis on my 1989 Defender 90 .
Noticed a few differences ,but would this be a feasible swap ,what problems may I encounter and has many Landy owners done this swap as haven't heard anyone mention .

Not familiar with Wolf chassis? If it is an 89 vehicle, it is not a Defender, they were not made then. It is a Ninety.
And also, you will get more response to your query if you dont post it in the section to do with 101 inch and military vehicles. Unless it is military, but even so, more look at defender section.

Oh dear ,I thought posting in a military section would include the Defender Wolf which I am sure is Military but I will leave you to find that one out as you seem to know all ,sorry I called my 90 a Defender , I stand corrected .

Right, that is a bit more explanatory! I am still not convinced the Wolf is a Defender in 89, the Defender name was not used until 1990. But I dont have much to do with military vehicles. I had imagined the Wolf referred to a make of chassis.

So what you are saying is that you want to fit a military chassis to your 1989 Ninety. Off the top of my head, I think the detail differences will be quite small, and you would probably get away with it with minor mods. The year of the chassis may make a difference too.

But there will be others who know more about that. My suggestion that you will get more attention for your query in Defender section, or General Land Rover chat, is still a good one! :)

And you will need an IVA ( or whatever it's called these days) for it to be legal and you will get a Q plate. You will also need lots of receipts and paperwork before they will even consider allowing you to register it, unless you get the V5 with the chassis then it's a lot less complicated as you can use the Wolf's ID and your existing vehicle ID can be registered as scrapped, of course then you run into the points system for retaining the wolf ID as you will need to have enough bits from the wolf to get over the points hurdle, just the chassis won't be enough and your back to a Q plate.

Or you could just change the chassis and not tell anyone, then hope you don't have an accident or come to the attention of the authorities as you could be accused of driving a ringer, at best it gets crushed, at worst you go to gaol.

Reusing a second hand chassis (I'm assuming it is second hand) keeps coming up and there really is no easy way to do it. For very good reasons, far too many stolen Land Rovers get broken up for spares fuelling the theft epidemic that we owners are suffering from.

A wolf chassis is more likely to have all the 300tdi era fittings so it should be possible to get bits if yours doesn't fit but I agree with above it's a very different, heavier chassis so you'd need to play paper chase with dvla

Go for it.
Should just be engine mounts that are different anything else is easily changed.
Up to 200tdi, all the same, 300tdi changed mounts.
