    Jacking/Raising/Lifting for work

I thought this was standard practice for the DIY Land Rover owner.

Wolf Chassis replacement for Defender 90 ?? Noticed

And you will need an IVA ( or whatever it's called these days) for it to be legal and you will get a Q plate. You will also need lots of receipts and paperwork before they will even consider allowing you to register it, unless you get the V5 with the chassis then it's a lot less complicated as...

Wanted Disco TDI Spare wheel carrier

Any one in the south Yorkshire area got a spare wheel carrier from a tdi Disco that they would swap for a few beer vouchers?

    Indicator cancel not working

I knew there was a peg involved somewhere between the wheel and the blue collar :)

    Indicator cancel not working

IIRC the blue collar has a peg which locates in the steering wheel so it turns with the wheel.

Location of Chassis Number 1968 Series 2a?

It should be on the front dumb iron, right hand side IIRC.

    Defender advice

I agree it is too much. BUT is TD5 the way to go? For me it would have to be a 300 tdi. For the best compromise between driveability and ease of maintenance it has to be the 300tdi. I'm sure others will disagree but there's nothing on mine I can't "do". Anything later and you're into electronics...

    Defender advice

The best advice I can give for the potential Defender owner is .......................DON'T DO IT.......You will end up like the rest of us sad, afflicted, hopeless cases.

    Brit Part hub bearing??????

If paddocks are offering the "G" suffix part in a blue box you should be OK. Having said that I would be inclined to go for a "name" like Timkin or SKF or whatever regardless of what it says on the box.

    Which machine mart/Clarke welder?

I'm on my second Clarke welder (in 25 years). If you read through the mig welding forum, the Clarke Italian made blue box welders are quite well regarded for home/light use. (The Chinese built red box welders are not quite so well regarded) Don't bother with "no-gas" it has it's uses but gas is...

    Stoplock pro V Stoplock 4x4

If a stop lock is no good because it can be defeated by a single cut with a battery grinder and a slitting disc then so are the ones cover the whole steering wheel, cut through the lock or hinge and it's off.

missing bolt or plug or not?

I wonder how many times this question is going to be asked, after the "what's the biggest tyres " question this must be the most asked.

300 tdi hard top tax class and body type changes

Mine is a soft top apparently. Land Rover Defender registration info and classifications are a complex issue and often bare little relationship to the vehicle.

    Rivnut Tool

I've got one of the hand riveter plier type that cost less than £15 it works on aluminium rivnuts perfectly. I think if you want to use steel rivnuts you need something a bit more complex (expensive)

    Dodgy garage advice

Not Doug, he died last year. No idea who's running the place now. I occasionally use them for spares but do all my own maintenance so I really can't comment on how good local "specialists" are.
