    series 3 rear shocks technique

thought i would share this i used a 7/8 socket cut the sides down so i could slide a pin in,then used a big g clamp and squeezed the socket onto the washer which compressed the bushes allowing me to slide the pin in,sounds easy but it was fiddly, but it made it easy for me,maybe this technique...

P38 v L322 costs and ease of maint'

only a 4lb hammer i had to use my sledge hammer for routine servicing :D

    full service , how much?

around £800 for a full service. if you got to a landy agent, doing it yourself would cost you around 150 plus parts. you pay for the time it takes to do the job.

farewell to my 2.5 diesel manual p38

so far i have found it cheaper to run (30 mpg+ around town about 20) depends how you drive it,if you want to make it move (around 3500 )rpm, then it will blow fivers out the exhaust, but if you drive it carefully you get better mpg.

they do indeed do a diesel but it hasn't been out long so prices still high, and i think still yet to prove itself (is this a boxer version?)

farewell to my 2.5 diesel manual p38

i will probably regret it but i now have a subaru legacy outback 2.5 petrol estate. proof is in the pudding and will have to see how it performs in winter. however the reliabilaty and the immediate start of the key hot or cold is leaving me with just routine maintenance.

    Wheeler Dealer

putting petrol into a diesel (small amount) was used to stop waxing this did work.other benefits would be minimal, diesel lubricates petrol does not. putting petrol into a diesel vehicle is not good for the seals.

    p38 ( 1996) won't start!

worth making sure it is charging properly (14.5 volts if it is too high 15.5 - 18v too high will cook battery among other problems) just worth cleaning up the connection. process of elimination.
