i will probably regret it but i now have a subaru legacy outback 2.5 petrol estate.
proof is in the pudding and will have to see how it performs in winter.
however the reliabilaty and the immediate start of the key hot or cold is leaving me with just routine maintenance.

Many men of a certain age feel that horizontal cylinders would better match their requirements.

What's wrong with that!? That was awarded the prestigious Top Gear Car of the Year Award 2007 :)

Great choice!!

Forester Diesel is high on my list of potential rangie replacements.

Great car, I would have looked if they did a diesel, which I believe they do now:):)

Great car, i drive it at work. Just do not let it in hands of an incompetent car electrician, as they can become a money pit just for clearing faults. Also, check your oil consumption, as it can be substantial (1L / 2000km). I hope yours is better than mine regarding fuel consumption, it's actually cheaper to drive the P38 DT with 9-10l/100km :)

so far i have found it cheaper to run (30 mpg+ around town about 20) depends how you drive it,if you want to make it move (around 3500 )rpm, then it will blow fivers out the exhaust, but if you drive it carefully you get better mpg.

it is a 2000 model with 114,000 on the clock. but it has been well looked after, everything works as it should.

Very good cars - and being a 2000, I believe it's one of the almost bulletproof models, before they ruined the clutch by changing a perfectly good design!!
