Does anyone know what make, type of fault code reader I need for my T reg 1999 Discovery 1 300 series v8? I've tried a Mac tools ET50 OBD2 and it says not supported! Any suggestions will be appreciated as I cannot seem to find anything on Internet complient for early Land Rovers only later...

You may be missing the switched +12v from the old head unit. Depending on make of original stereo the wire could be in with the plug from the pre amp line out plug.

I've had a quick look at this plug. It looks as though it has brown and red power wires, some green and blue wires which could be speaker wires and the black 'ribbon' cable could be d2b data ie control wires. I suspect that this could from the stereo head unit and has fallen down around the...

Are you sure it's not a r960. If its a Philips Radio Cassette then I may be able to help as I worked at Philips 1987 to 2000 repairing all the OE Rover radios.
