OBD2 Fault Code Readers

Does anyone know what make, type of fault code reader I need for my T reg 1999 Discovery 1 300 series v8? I've tried a Mac tools ET50 OBD2 and it says not supported! Any suggestions will be appreciated as I cannot seem to find anything on Internet complient for early Land Rovers only later Honda/ Rover cars?

the D1 is not OBDII compliant, you may get lucky with a cheaper multivehicle tool like this AUTOCOM CDP Plus for Cars, autocom cdp pro, Autocom CDP Cables - GBP£54.72 , which has D1 petrol in the list, and many more(i know as i had one) and you can return it in 7 days if no joy, but the real thing is Hawkeye, which is not cheap

find a vehicle coverage list on the web first for the autocom and make sure cos if i think twice i might have mixed the D1 V8 with the D2... i can't remember well

I wouldn't pay that price mind, I've seen them go for a tenner on ebay!
