they are controlled through the ecu the adaptions are for the fuelling , as I understand it you have short term and long term trims . while you are driving the fueling is controlled using all of the info from the various sensors , speed , gear , throttle position , engine temp, lambda etc...

where are you based , if someone has a hawkeye with the V5 software then they can clear your fault codes and reset your adaptions Andy

your emissions will probably be screwed , it will need a diagnostics tool plugged to read faults though , where are you based? Andy

adaptions can be reset by a hawkeye v5 or similar , if only one bank is going out of trim then look at your lambda sensors. if one is working and the other isnt then the ecu will tie itself in knots trying to adjust the fuelling a diagnostic should identify if a sensor is faulty

well , for peace of mind I did the bushes , took the linkage off yesterday and cleaned it up. Took it to a friend who pushed the old bushes out and pressed in the new ones for £20:) refitted this afternoon and hey presto , no more clunk:D

Just a thought , is it under load (TC locked) when you get the misfire, worse on gas than petrol? If so then try coilpacks. my were changed and the difference was amazing Andy

If you have a hawkeye then get the (free) V5 upgrade and you can reset the adaptions. I reckon your fuel trims are out because the ecu is trying to make up for incorrect maf readings. 11mpg is not a good figure. I was getting this sort of mpg and when I got a hawkey both lambda sensors were...

Have you tried bleeding the system? there is a bleed nipple on the steering box Andy
