Hi all, the disco intermittantly runs rough on gas, it has been in the garage for the last 5 weeks having things tried out, nothing definate found - thoughts are adaptive learning is changing based on one bank of 4 and eventually causing rough running. Idea is to disconnect prinz system and run for 2-300 miles to reset trims and see if engine performs on petrol only. Can the adaptive learning be reset any other way as I do not use the disco a lot and it would take some time (and petrol) for me to knock up 300 miles. Will testbook (or alternative) tell me if the engine ecu is kaput and causing the learning problem? If so is there anybody in Huddersfield who has the knowledge?

Thanks,

Baz

adaptions can be reset by a hawkeye v5 or similar , if only one bank is going out of trim then look at your lambda sensors.

if one is working and the other isnt then the ecu will tie itself in knots trying to adjust the fuelling

a diagnostic should identify if a sensor is faulty

Cheers, will have lambdas checked out - it is going for mot on sat, will mot pick up on lambdas - emissions?

Hi Baz, I know a gas installer in Hudds who specialises in Prins. He will probably charge the going rate to look at it though. If you want his number to ask him I will give you it . PM me if you want.
Alternately I have Hawkeye which can check your emissions/lambdas prior to your MOT if you wish. Again PM me if you wish.

Cheers Chris, I have been using Mick in at Green Fuels in Hudds to do the work as he is a Prins mechanic - anyway, Disco passed mot today with no probs with emissions and lambdas at 1.01 running on petrol and not lpg. Lpg emulators have been taken out to allow to run on petrol and reset adaptive learning. Mick tells me the emulators are old version with relays rather than newer version with diodes for switching, he tells me that these old prins emulators are prone to problems, so hopefully a new pair of emulators should do the trick. Will do a few miles on petrol and then return for new emulators.

If you are talking about Mike Scott then that's the guy I was on. About. He knows his stuff. Hope the new emulator sorts it out for you, you don't really want to be running around on petrol any longer than is necessary.

Still having problems even with new emulators, adaptive learning causing mixture to get to rich. Mick the mechanic has suggested MAF unit - any thoughts?
Will disco run on default values without MAF, will mixture be too rich? I have seen on forum that people have said MAF not used when on LPG - can someone explain what this means? Why might adaptive learning make mixture richer only on LPG? - this happens over a couple of days. Any comments appreciated.
p.s. If I isolate the battery in the garage at the end of each day, will the ecu reset overnight to give good running the next day? (will try anything)

cheers
