I had the same problem with a R,reg Disco & only by fitting Landrover's own leads did it solve the problem. Try finding a very dark place & look at the plug leads when it is running & if they are glowing or tracing to earth they are crap leads.

I am currently converting my Defender TD5 to a single mass flywheel as my gear box has Shatt itself & this should not happen to a gearbox on the NEW dual mass system. I have had the Flywheel machined to a single mass & looking for the correct 267mm clutch friction plate possibly out of a 3.9I V8...

They are still using the 300TDI engines in the Landy's as i have a NEW 300 TDI to fit to a Wolf tomorrow. They do have a hand full of TD5 landy's running around Catterick at the mo but not in IRR green.

If you fitted a clutch with springs did you also replace the flywheel? if so could you find out if it was a conversion to single mass. Thank's TT

The Modern Motors Have Dual Mass Flywheels. Thus The Clutch Plates Don't Have Springs In The Area Around The Middle. The Flywheel Has The Springs Inside As It Has Two Or More Parts To It. But They All Will Need Replacing At Some Point When Worn & You Hear A Knocking As If The Big End Shells Are...

Also do a dark test on the leads. Start the engine & look at the leads in the dark & see if any are tracing to earth or any are glowng i had a problem with a V8 disco with the leads & got Landys own & it sorted the missfire.
