Funny, I've got two 12 year old BM 5 series now( 1x touring, 1 x saloon, both 525i e34's for those in the know, one's on an 'M' plate, t'other's on an 'N'). Have put 20k plus on them myself, one is on 142k, t'other is 179k. Have ALL the service/repair paperwork for both, most either have needed...

Thats what I love about this place. Away for ages, come back and nowts changed, still the same faults, still the same old pile of sh*te that LR fobbed us off with. And it had the pottential to be sooo good. And you'd have fort they'd get it right with the FL2...fat chance....:mad2: Grumpy...

Yanick, See me post on yer other fred. Xedi fer me cos 1) they're cheaper 2) the bimmer's got its own faults on top of the normal GL ones 3) loadsa rover spares loads cheaper than spec landy. End of the day, depends on yer budget, yer prob better off with an xedi than a cheap early...

Yanick, If I was buying a GL again, I'd get an Xedi first choice, with a TD4 a close second. As Mingey sez, ferget about the engin, they're stellar mileage bulletproof lumps wiv loadsa spares from Rover 220/420/620 (same lump). Its basically a Rover version of an original Perkins lump...

Also suggest you get summat in writing from Castle about what they did/changed etc.

Dead right Blippie. And used in LDV vans. Do a search for Tinytdi to see what mileage he's on, but 160k+ isn't unusual. Assuming the rest of it don't fall to bits....

Public face hatters, £2k minus 2x £95 for the front window regulators, minus £250 quoted for the sunroof rails, minus £50 for the rear door handle makes £1510 if me maths is right. 168k miles on R310, say coupla hundred for that, £1300's not far off...:o Yeah right...:mad:
