Well, heres my first post on this site and its to plead for help. Got myself a 04 Freelander 2.5 a year ago and was very pleased with it....until last week when I went to start it..dead, nothing no click not a squeak out of it. None of the electrics work at all, no internal lights, radio , nothing. I tried jumping it in case it's the battery but still won't start.

Before I start farting about with getting a new battery and trying that, does anyone have any words of wisdom (apart from the ones I got at work " Freelander, what dya go and buy that for, they're Sh*t!!).

Cheers,
Iain

Welcome Bitterman, you sound like just the kind of fruitbat we need....

All other Newbies, READ THIS POST! Take a bit of stick, take it with good face, give a bit back, and look at all the good advice keep rolling in.....Evening Hatters, T5 !:p

A bat...made of fruit?? Interesting concept...

Many thanks for the greeting..it's nice to find a forum were being slightly off centre is the norm....mind you, some might say you have to be mad to buy a freelander in the first place.......

check underneath the in-enjun bay fuse/relay box - the contacts are prone to corrosion UNDERNEATH.

I have a 2001 2.5 Freelander and have no problem with the contacts corrosion.

Once it didnt' want to start I changed battery and now it is running/starting without problems.

Also gear changing is much smother.

So maybe you have dead battery but cause can be bad alternator (generator). Mine is OK and Free has 125.000km done.

(Sorry for my english .. not nativ language)

valid point, lovrod.

I was not saying that corrosion WAS/IS the problem, just that it is a POSSIBLE cause of the problem.

In the absence of Dopeydawg giving a definitive answer, I thought I would try and assist.:D
