In a word, Rust!
Sills, Bottoms of A and B posts, boot floor, rear inner wheel arches, floor seams and especialy the rear x-member, look closely around the body mounts.

The chassis don't seem to rot too bad, though I've seen some go a bit crispy either side of the fuel tank and back, look behind the top spring mount cups.

It will have some snot along the bottom of the door seams and rear quarters, just depends on if it's been hidden or not, front leading edge of the bonnet also goes!

Trans should be failrly tight, no strange clonks with gear changes, could have a little syncro wear, not realy a problem, just adds to the experiance! brakes should be good, not require massive pressure to bring the car to a stop, and pull up straight.

The RRC are a nice old tool, just showing their age a little now, try and find one thats been loved, might cost a little more to purchase but could save you both cash and downtime in the long run.
Good Luck!!

cheers for the help fellas.Just got to check theres no air suspension cos I know they were trouble from the moment Land rover put em on!From pics(doesnt mean much but the are plenty of photos) there doesnt seem to be any more than normal rust. The tailgate is a little tatty but I dont think there are any that aint!

In addition to everything else that's been said, Check front inner wings for rust, rear seat beltmountings and A Frame balljoint.I do beleive that air suspension was introduced October 1992 as standard equip on Voque SE and Voque LSE models. It is also possible to find models of later period with coil springs (been converted)If abs fitted check it's working .
Good Luck

cheers for the help fellas. Off to collect a 1992 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER VOGUE SE A GREEN‏ tommorrow night, for a reasonable price.got it off ebay, havent tried buying cars of there before so we'll so how that goes!looking forward to getting it muddy!

yeah gotta get under neath it and paying cash so ill have a good butchers first.if im not happy walk away

I shouldn't worry too much about the air suspension, if it's gone just put some coil springs on and rip the air suspension system out, easy to do and pretty cheap.

Coils all round. One bit of rust on the tail gate about the size of a 2p peice and thats it!Well chuffed with it but being driving it and only getting about 10mpg!have to stop using the kickdown!Piccies to come if i sort it tomorrow
