2002 L322 V8 Vogue. Unfortunately I had to have the vehicle jump started (due to alternator failure). New alternator now fitted and all is fine but the radio/cd/satnav display has gone! Radio/cd are working fine, but no display. I have tried fuse 49 out/in after 15 minutes but still no joy. Everything in the rear n/s compartment looks ok. Any ideas how I can get the display back? Thanks.

Did you follow the jump procedure exactly...as they need to be jump correctly to avoid unit damage!

The Sat Nav in the L322 is a tempermental beast, if power is lost or spiked while the red light is on, it will fry the brains of it....

Try removing the fuse for 30 minutes and see what happens....

Does the red light come on the unit and go off after 3 minutes is left alone (don't open/close doors as this will re-awaken the unit!)

Thanks for your reply. The vehicle was jump started several times by a local garage due to completely drained battery. Not sure if they followed the correct procedure, but unlikely!
When I remove fuse 49 can I lock the car for the 30 minute wait?
Finally, not sure what red light you are referring to? The display unit only has an orange light showing if I switch the radio on. Are you talking about the red light on the navigation unit in the rear n/s compartment?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Saint V8, I have checked the red light on the navigation unit, it comes on for a few minutes then blinks for a few seconds then goes out. After the red light went out I removed fuse 49 and locked the car. I will report back in 30 minutes when I have replaced the fuse. Thanks again!

Hi again Saint.V8, just replaced fuse 49 after 30 minutes+ and no difference. Screen is lighting up (back lit) but not showing anything! Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. Who can re-flash the unit for me?

Not sure in the UK, I'm sure I've read about it being done in a LZ post.
There is a guy in Holland I beleive, try a search.

Sounds like it's trying to start up but failing to initiate.

hmmmm...try unplugging the nav unit as it could be dragging the other units into fault!!!

If it works with the nav unit disconnected the unit is U/S....if still nothing, start looking at the Video Module in the rear quarter!

Unplugged the satnav (blue and maroon connectors)....no difference. Reconnected...no difference.

What does the video module look like please and are there any tests I can do with it?

Many thanks again.

The TV unit takes over the display if the satnav is broken so if you don't get anything when you unplug the satnav you might have a display problem. The TV unit is the silver one on the right hand side at the bottom when you look in the area of all the entertainment stuff. You can try plugging the tv connector (can't remember which one but they are interchangeable) into the satnav and see if that gets the screen working.

Thank you. Are you saying I can swap over the blue and white connectors?

The blue connectors on the TV and satnav are the same. Pull the satnav and unplug the blue connector after the red light has gone out. Unplug the blue connector from the TV unit and plug that in the satnav. If you get nothing then I'd go for a display problem unless of course both TV and satnav modules have blown at the same time which is unlikely but not impossible. Have you tried pulling fuse 8 as well as 49 as that protects some of the audio system? Might be worth a go.

Many thanks Lyndasbottom, plugged the blue connector from the TV module into the satnav and the display is back!!! Missing from the menu is the TV option now which didn't work anyway. Everything else is as it was including the satnav. I assume from this that the TV module is fecked. Thank you very much for your help, greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas!!!

No problem. Glad it worked. The system isn't that complicated if you are methodical. I got mine back working using the same approach. The only thing left to do on mine is to get the on board computer stuff working. That's being more of a challenge.
