Hi all, placed this in the wrong forum,
Just got a 2003 Disco 2 and so nobody is feeling left out in the 1st 3 months there was:-
1. water dripping out of the headlining at the front this I cured by following info from Landyzone decided not to take out the whole headlining to check the rear sunroof (WRONG MOVE!!!!!). so that to redo
2. I have joined the rest of the disco 2 owners - THE 3 AMIGOS which I'm still investigating.
3. It would appear that the car was not run for a while in the sales room so all the faults didn't happen till after the warranty!!!

I do have a question is there a link with water getting in, the 3 Amigos randomly coming on, together with the rear lights earthing?

you need to use a scanner to find what the fault code is before doing anything else.
Hi HenryD,

As you are by now aware I'm a total novice to Land Rovers, I am amazed at the huge industry around them.
So down to business, what is a scanner? is this a diagnostic tool? how much to use? get one? or where do I go?
I have only ever used a dealership once in my life and that hit me for £1800 for a turbo on a laguna, so I would appreciate advice

Find someone with a Hawkeye or Nanocom scanner and check abs system for codes as that is probably where the fault originates, the traction system and hill descent all rely on the Abs system hence a fault there triggers all three lights.;)

+1!
Got the 3A's recently. No scanner to hand so checked all the wheels/brakes. Found the rear discs/pads well worn so changed them all out last weekend. Still got the lights on though.
Spoke to local LR dealer, they want £75 to read codes etc?!
Might have to do it as MOT is at Xmas and it'll be an automatic fail I believe.

The amigo's are mostly triggered by a knackered abs sensor/hub bearing,if you jack up and spin/check for play you may find a duff one, code reader is the easiest and best way though as fault may be shuttle valve.

the D2boysclub has a nanocom locator which will let you know if a friendly member is in your area.

Had each wheel off and hubs all seemed okay. Tried the Nanocom locator but nothing near me! (Southampton area)

Might have to use main Dealer!?

The main problem I have with the 3 Amigos is that they come on randomly, not happen for a week now even after upto axles in mud (well it was definitely almost upto the wheel hubs) :rolleyes:and I can't get the lights to come on. so I assume codes can't be read by a Nanocom without the light/faults being on? this is an issue in progress see below on garage.

On the water issue as I don't have a garage I can get a car in, I've had enough of the drippin water and to save any further water damage until weather gets a little better I've sealed the sunroofs with clear silicone and thought I had sorted it, but NO, traced the water to the roof bars as well.

So next year I'm stripping out the headliner and this time do a proper job on the sunroofs with new seals etc.:D

I chased my ass trying to cure leaks on mine for ages,in the end ripped out the headliner and found that roof cassette to body were leaking on both and drain tubes broken(they are plastic bonded into metal) and the front screen top corners were my worst leak, all sorted now and been dry for a couple of months

Latest update about leaking sunroof
It wasn't the sunroof, windscreen or the rail bars! finally found the leak by accident there was a small hole in the old original sealant at the front corner of the roof water channel where it joins the A post after many frustrating hours of trial and error been dry since BUT it hasn't rained yet

The very latest update on the water, We have a sealed D2, I realise that I am pushing my luck, but even after all the rain and snow we have a dry cabin.

Hi, het yourself a Nanocom or Hawkeye, with your stealer calling 75 quid for every reading it will be a win in no time.
