Test yer vcu's to see if they work with the test below. This time of year is a gift as you can also test yer Freelander on snow whilst someone films it for you. Filmed proof the rear wheels have no drive may be needed for you to argue your vcu has failed.

Pearls before swine, Hippooo :(.

Hi, I was pointed to this thread by another user.
I just fitted a re-con unit from freelanderspares.co.uk and it is completely non functional.

So, on a slight slope in the snow, the front wheels spin and the VCU just slips, no matter what speed the front prop turns at, the rear prop doesnt turn at all.

Jacking up one rear wheel to do the "traditional" vcu test, I can turn the rear wheel quite easily by hand with little resistance. The rear section of prop turns and the VCU just slips.

I will be contacting them this morning.

So we have a few people with the same issues...
Has everyone with the units got them fitted in the last year as they have the 1 year guarantee, not sure how that will go if the ones a duff. Would you get a replacement duff unit again?

Mine was bought in November and I just fitted it a couple of days ago. Given the faff of returning it, I will want a cast-iron guarantee from them that the replacement will be perfect. If they cant offer this, I will be pushing for a full refund and will buy one from Bell's. This raises another problem though - my exchange unit, which went back to freelanderspares in November. Who will end up paying the surcharge at Bell?

So yu want a refund and an exchange unit.. not rocket science is it.. when they refuse a refund "and they will refuse get hold of trading standards."

Its not rocket science, but it does involve lots of posting things back and forth, which all costs money and takes time.
