Sorry to anyone who takes offence, but it's blatant plug time!!!!

I can do it, I am based near the historical cathedral city of Elgin, 30
miles East of Inverness on the Moray coast.
Just let me know exactly what you require doing and it'll be done, at a very
favourable labour rate.

Hello Brian.
I still remember you demonstrating how to blow the water
plugs out of a Ford Capri 3lt engine at Kinloss. To david, Badger is
worth try and still a good friend.

There's nothing wrong with the blatant plug if you can stand up
to scrutiny and are prepared to be shot down if you don't match
up!

Sorry to be blunt but the Inverness firm that is usually
recommended seems to have gone to pot and I am still smarting.
Not only did they keep my vehicle for an excessively long period
but when it was returned there was no oil in the gear box!

In the future, I would certainly be willing to travel the extra
miles to Elgin if you can match the recommendations.

Want to tell me who that was? Off-list preferably, I don't want to be
involved in public slander of another garage especially when the evidence is
heresay. Remove the nospammers and ammend to btinternetdotcom.
Have heard some disappointing stories of a 4x4 business in Inverness
recently, they installed one of my engines for a customer some months back
and were never off the phone to me - asking things they really shouild have
known if they were used to working on landy's! A friend tells me they have
got themselves a reputation for "failing to deliver", with many vehicles
left "round the back" for long periods.

Derry, my new workshop should be built and up and running by mid-June with
any luck, you are then more than welcome to pay me a visit and "try me".

As a very experienced barrack room lawyer, I'd prefer not to say
more, even off list, as defamation needs not only to be true but
provably as such in a court of law to be totally safe!

But if you took a guess, your chances of coming up with the
right answer would probably be more than 50%. And there's a lot
more to it than I have posted here.

Haha, yes, I'd forgotten all about that four wheeled heap of misery! Lying
on the tarmac outside the block underneath that bloody thing. Best move I
ever made, selling it! Your memory must be better than mine John, that must
have been what, early1986??
BTW, it wasn't a water plug, it was the oil pump drive on the "crapi", the
water core plug blew on the princess!

Now look what you've made me do.... publically admit to having owned an
austin princess! DOH! The shame, the shame.

Badger.

At least we know why you were banished to the northern frozen wasteland.

What frozen wasteland? This is the "Costa del Moray", I'll have you know.
Near enough the lowest rainfall in Scotland, not that you'd think it this
last week!
As for the princess, I drove it up here! :-(
Then I bought a Jag :-o
Then I saw sense and got a landrover 110 :-|
Then I fitted a V8 :)
Then I fitted a BIGGER V8 ;-))
Does that get me off the hook? Please?
Badger.

You can go off some people really quickly, you know.
I've just remembered why we exported the unwanted part of the family to the
North Island (NZ) many, many years ago!

'Tis a lovely part of the world and hopefully I'll get back there in the
next couple of years. Anyway, in it's day the Princess wasn't a bad car!

The Scots exports all ended up in the South of the South Island, round
about Dunedin. A fair bit of the population down there still speak with
a Scots accent.

Those of us in the North enjoy the good weather and traffic jams. :)

Incidentally, you want a 450bhp Rover motor?

Only if it's not going to cost a lot, I've spent too much money recently!
