Hi Guys
I'd welcome your advice.
Because of severely ruptured discs, there are few vehicles that I can drive comfortably.
After a series of Jeep Grand Cherokees, I'm contemplating coming over to the dark side
and buying an '07 RR 3.6 TDV8. (face lifted version)
I've found one with 200k on the clock(motorway miles), 1 managing director owner and a FSH. Its in very good shape. MoT is good until Sept. We've agreed £4k and the seller is a dealer. I've had a mechanic mate give it the once over and he can't find anything wrong with it.
I've had diesels (Jeeps) before and tended to do preventative maintenance and frequent oil and filter changes and (touch wood) never had any big bills.
My plan would be to keep the RR while I get well and fit again and my annual mileage would be about 7k as I'll be driving project and weekend cars, come summer. Probably aim to keep the RR for a few years.
I 'get' that its a how long is a piece of string question. However, I'm hoping there may be some guys here, with experience of high mileage versions of this RR and can advise.

I also have a reliable source of cheap very high quality B100 bio diesel and I'm also wondering if anyone reading this, has experience of using bio diesel in the 3.6 TDV8 engine. Googled this a fair bit, but there's very little info on the web.

Many thanks in advance guys :)

I would rather take a high mileage car owned by someone who has maintained it than a mileage car owned by someone who didn't.

Make sure everything works that there is no water in the electronics bay and fluids have been changed. Make sure it's smooth through the drivetrain. bushes and ball joints are a common wear item and nothing earth shattering to replace.

Having said I would never get an L322 over Christmas I took the plunge on a supercharged one and picking it up this weekend hopefully.

I'm still keeping the P38 though

Add to that intercooler pipes and EGR valves;)

The ZF G'Box is seldom serviced so a cheap TDV8 may be hiding issues.

The G'Box Oil has to be changed every 60k.

'Tis a herculean box if maintained.

At 100k i'd budget for turbos and EGRs at the very least aswell as a full service INC the GEARBOX!!!

When he says oil....he means gearbox fluid....engine oil should be changed much more frequently....

Thanks for your help guys. I'll add the things you mentioned, to my list of things to check in the service history.

Good luck with your 4.2 Adam. You'll have fun with that one :)
