Another week in Landy ownership means another problem to fix.
This one is a front wheel that sits a bit wonky. Any idea what is could be?
Wheel bearing? King pin bearing?
When it is jacked up it doesn’t wobble and there is no ‘death wobble’ when driving it?
TIA

Could be a number of things. Could be the tyre thats damaged. Could be the tracking thats out. Could be the wheel, the hub, the swivel, the nut behind the steering wheel or any number of other things. By wobble what exactly is the play in it.

When I replaced all the ball joints on my S3 steering, I followed some of the advice on here about setting the tracking. After I'd had about three attempts, the wheels looked out of line with each other, the offside one in particular. In the end I took it to my local tyre fitters, they have one of those laser alignment jobbies, cost about £18 but it did the trick.

It has had 2 different sets of wheels on (inc rims) so I think I can rule out the tyre being the issue. There is no wobble felt through the steering when driving it.

I have attached a photo I have in the archives. It’s not the best but you can see where the bottom of the wheel leans inwards and the top outwards.
It may look from the picture like the wheels arnt straight but that’s just the picture

It has only happened fairly recently and it hasnt had any knocks, so i wouldnt have thought it was a bent axle. I presume it takes quite a bit to bend a axle

That looks normal to me.
Try jacking a wheel up and holding a piece of chalk between a brick and the tyre tread so the chalk dunt move. Rotating the wheel by hand 180 should draw a line that stays on the same bit of tread all the way round.
The angle on Henry’s front wheels always had me stumped but with a little effort I have learnt to completely ignore it.

Oh..... his bent bumper and I’ll fitting front wings made it look worse. I see your wings lean a little, as indeed they should.

Are you just looking at the camber angle? Because its a beam axle if one wheel is on a bump the axle will be tilted so one wheel looks "straight" and the other looks like it has twice the camber.
