Wobbly Turbo

Hi all. Whilst in the process of building up the 300tdi lump I noticed a bit of play in the bearing (approx 20 thou) when i held the spindle of the turbo. It didn't smoke when it was running before, should I worry?. I'm a bit nervous with these posh discos after having owned series 3's before.

Hi,the bearings on the 300 tdi are run on oil so you will get a bit of play as long as there is no trace of blades scraping the sides then it should be ok as i was worried when i first checked mine hope this makes sence,tiga

Thanks tigapiglet. I'll not be having any nightmares now about turbo blades getting mashed up in the engine.
