Hi everybody, I am currently welding the chassis on my 2A and I have a very good bulkhead to go on it, has anyone in the North Wales area or possibly a bit further out got a wiring loom for a Series 2A?

Thanks in advance Andy.

Unless you find a new loom...in my opinion if you find a loom, being 30/40/50 years old it is going to have bodge after bodge and modifications to suit whatever the other vehicle had on it.

Far better to start from scratch.

wiring:eek::eek::eek::eek:,i'm ready to put my front wings back on so that's the job after,i'm glad i have a sparks as a mate cos i am bloody clueless with electrickery.
anyone know of a good book which explains it in idiots terms?,my dad tried to explain it once by telling me to imagine it as water flowing down pipes, still no good!

I can just abouge manage wiring that is allready in place but redoing or adding is a very grey zone too me.

Andy.

my brain turns to blancmange as soon as i look at wiring!my 109 had 2 extra rear indicators,2 extra stop lamps, rear fog lights, reversing lights and 4 interior lights all wired with the same colour wires(pink i think),how the hell are you supposed to suss that out?i took them all off and into the bin they went!

i'm lucky because the person who's doing the wiring is getting all the wire and crimps from his work,i normally shy away from anything with crimped connectors but if it's good enough for aircraft then it's good enough for a land rover.
i reckon the wire and connectors for a full rewire would be about £80

depends on who you know........ i am planing a complete re-wire of my s3, going for a more modern setup with relays and blade fuses, (i've had a coupe of fuse boards for a while) this will let me have things fuse individualy instead of the 4 35A glass fuses that are used now, and as an added bonus diagnosing elecrical faults will be easier instead of hunting for hours through 3 or 4 systems i will be able to go right to the problem (well within 20 mins)

I am going down the same route....replacing the whole lot. The ignition system is easy, only a few wires. Couple of wires to the alternator, to the coil and thats about it as far as actually getting it going. Its all the other bits and bobs which make it time consuming.

The Haynes manual is actually pretty good...tells you wire for wire where everything goes and what colour it should be (note chances of wires being the correct colour by the book is pretty slim) and that is what I used. Of course mine isn't by the book anyway, but it is good as a reference.

Every wire, switch, relay and fuse is coming out and being replaced with modern stuff (apart from the manual cut-out switch which I aquired from a vintage tractor!). I am lucky in the fact that I have lots of new wire of varying colour and capacity hanging about (as you do) so it is not costing a lot to do.

I was just saying to my friend yesterday that I was going to use trailer wire for the rear, tell me is it possible to get the rubber grommets to seal the two holes inthe chassis?

Andy.
