Wireless winch remotes

I've just fitted my new winch and looking into fitting a wireless remote,but realised there's lots to choose from. I'm only looking at occasional use,so doesn't need to be a professional type. Been searching the net and found this one, WINCH REMOTE WIRELESS TWIN HANDSET 12 VOLT or 24 VOLT ~~~BRAND NEW DESIGN~~~ | eBay
Has anyone used this,or know if it's any good?

A member on here came unstuck the other day with a wireless remote when it got damp and locked on!

Used a similar remote for a little winch I got given. It works fine, but there is a delay in the switching which makes me nervous, I don't think I would change my big front 12000lb winch to remote, just in case. The cable and switch has a lot more feel, and stops when you want it to.

They're rubbish my man !! Tried many different ones over the years and you just can't beat a good hand jobby !!!!!seriously they often don't work very well and often don't work at all !!!

I have a warn winch with the warn wireless remote,as already said there is a delay in the switching it's not like having a button in your hand at all.It just take a bit of getting used to,i have never used my wonder lead i just use the remote all the time.Till something happens i'm happy with it.

Most of the remotes on eBay are actually illegal for use in the uk.

You really want a lodar, superwinch or symbol remote which are all approved for uk use and as such can have sub frequencies set to prevent your winch starting up when somebody else uses their remote.

I've got a remote but I hardly use it as I have a switch on the dash

Probably the wrong radio frequency.

We've got a 5000lb pull winch in the back half of the trailer, we use it to load the big horizontal diesel, and although we could have bought a wireless remote control, the cable remote was fine, although we did extend the lead so we could be outside the trailer while winching.

I feel the same as others, the standard switched remote is more immediate in operating, plus there's no chance of another one nearby setting yours off at a bad time, especially in a meet-up of Landies with winches

It's a classic case of you get what you pay for !!

I also had the wet wireless receiver problem, winch ate its own hook!

handy as it was (only had it fitted for about 2 weeks) i buggered it off again and fitted a switch on the grill instead (have had a switch on the dash for ages)

Funny you should mention a switch on the grille I've just painted my early one with lock hole where the switch is going

wrong frequency, the inability to set your remote so that any other winches nearby cannot activate it and lack of radio interference certificates (Part 15 of FCC regulations).

A winch remote in the uk should operate on a frequency of 433.92 MHz

A winch remote in the states operates at 418 MHz (IIRC)

Chinese tat ones operate at whatever the hell frequency they want.

Symbol winch remotes have 16 micro switches to allow for adjusting the sub frequency. Lodar has one sub frequency in built and each remote has to be programmed to the receiver to fine tune the sub frequency. I haven't had any experience with the superwinch wireless remotes so don't know what system they use for insuring safe operation.
