Hello,

My windscreen seal is pretty much non-existant in the corners and I have decided that it's time to get it sorted. I called Autoglass earlier this evening and they wanted £97 for the seal alone and then a further £80 to fit it! I can get a complete seal for £13 but I need someone to fit it - there's no way I'm even going to attempt it on my own. Does anybody know of a national franchise / Leeds based firm who will fit a seal that I supply myself for a reasonable price or does anyone on here work for autoglass who will do it for me on the side?

Thanks

Bearmach do one-had mine fitted for £20-worth it to learn the secret to easy fitting

3.8 mm starter cord(mowers) put the cord round and make loop 6 inches in from edge.
Spray rubber with glass cleaner(not washing up liquid) put up to lip.
Pull loop into one corner(do not be tempted to push it) pull opposite corner.

Get corners in and then pull the rest of cord
(if you try pushing beforehand it binds in corner)
when all the rubber is in gently-only very slight pressure=flys in

Stay away from the big companies, all they want is insurance jobs as they pay best prices.... I broke my screen last year trying to do it myself. People say its easy... well it is if you have done one before and yes, some good guides on how to do it. Me.... I am a mug and after watching experienced fitters x 3 doing mine I would always pay.
Last Wednesday I went back with my latest 110 and took my new rubber and they fitted it in 20 minutes. They can be very tight but if you feel confident... go for it.
If you do break it... 45 minutes away from you is a reasonable company who will sort it. If you just want the rubber fitting then its at your risk and if the screen breaks you have to pay for a new one. Take your own rubber seal with you anyway.

My post from last year.... price may have changed http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/windscreens-side-windows-79598.html

I'm about 7 mins away from the airport. I've arranged for a company to come out and do the swap for me tomorrow, £30 all in which sounds good to me. It's certainly a lot better than risking breaking the glass!

Seems fair enough if they're coming to you. They're very easy to do once you've been shown.
